Why can’t we defeat the oldest disease known to humankind?
TUBERCULOSIS (‘TB’) HAS BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME. This has led to the infamous claim that TB is the oldest disease known to humankind. Why people failing to take their TB treatment should not be jailed
It's World TB Day. Here's why human rights and TB responses go hand in hand. When the police arrived in their village in Nandi County in Kenya’s North Rift, Patrick Kipng’etich and Daniel and Henry Ng’etich didn’t think much of it. That is, until they realised the police were there for them. What had they done? Patrick, Daniel and Henry are working men with families, well liked in their communities. They were arrested and thrown in the police cells with other people accused of crimes. Their crime?
WHO’S RESPONSIBLE?
Pharma’s Obligations Under the Right to Science Benefitting from scientific progress is a human right, but who’s responsible for ensuring that this right is upheld? As Mike Frick clearly lays out in “Science and Solidarity”, governments must respect, protect, and fulfill the right to science through development and diffusion of science and its applications. Indeed, human rights are primarily concerned with the relationship between individuals and their governments.
