I'm resigning to spend more time with my family.
By Brian Hallam My goal on Candy Crush was to get to level 10,000. It has been a love-hate relationship over the last couple of years. Screenshot by the Author I stopped enjoying Candy Crush about six months ago but kept on playing purely to achieve my goal. And of course, now that I'm on Medium it's interfering with my reading time.
Soul Food for the Brain
By Brian Hallam Image created on Canva by the author I woke up at 3 am this morning. Don't ask me why because I have no answer for you. My daily routine is set in stone, regardless of what time I wake up. Toilet, coffee, Wordle, coffee, Medium, more coffee. YES, I have three coffees to get me going in the morning! No judging, please! We all have our vices. Wordle is my brain's morning exercise. By the time I've cracked it (and had three coffees), I'm cruising...
I Lost My Job For A Book Signing
By Brian Hallam Photo Credit: Svetoslav Kyosov I was at work when the phone rang. I answered it, half expecting it to be a customer asking the usual question, "What's new out this week?" but surprising, it was my sister, Jenny. "You need to get down to Hatchards in Piccadilly, pronto!" Why? "Michael Caine is signing copies of his new book!" Jenny replied, very energetically.
Don't run before you can walk on Medium
By Brian Hallam In response to a post I read this morning entitled: "Should I Publish 7 Stories a Week Or Just One Every 7 Days?" by Maliha Canva Pro Free Stock Photos I must say, I've seen this very same question, or variations of it at least every other day since I joined Medium on 27th April 2024. This was my reply to Maliha: "Hi, Malika, I'm quite new to Medium. I must say I'm loving...
Reading suggestions
By Brian Hallam Photo by Aaron Burden on Unsplash After an operation yesterday on my hand, I'm all bandaged up and feeling sorry for myself. Don't worry, I have a grand plan. I'm spending the next two days reading stories on Medium. No work, just reading and resting. That's what the doctor ordered! I'm looking for suggestions on who to follow and read. I'm quite new to Medium, and with the lack of energy from the operation and anesthesia, I can't be bothered...
Aren't you just fed up of AI?
I have to talk about this, every ad I see is for AI this and AI that. Can't we go back to the good old days of research? I don't even mean going to the Library, (do kids these days even know what a library is?) I'm talking about actually reading text books, past papers etc.. Today I saw an ad for an app that changes you into some sort of sex goddess. That's all fair and fine but then you add those generated pictures to your Facebook profile.
Shadows of Suspicion
A Story from my book: Harrogate to Kisumu My Son Peter, a bright and once sociable young man, found himself ensnared in the grip of a sinister condition commonly known as Paranoia. Like a dark shadow creeping over his mind, it manifested in a myriad of unsettling symptoms, each a testament to the profound disconnection between his perception and reality.
Correction: A controlled-release oral opioid supports S. aureus survival in injection drug preparation equipment and may increase bacteremia and endocarditis risk
