Remaining competitive means moving forward
One of the hardest parts for any business to get right is managing the work force in a delicate balance of recruitment and retention. Precision machining is a complex balancing act, a unique blend of high-tech machines and complex software and low-tech but difficult manual operations. Becoming and staying competitive is tough. Customers have become more demanding on price and quality, as well as timely delivery. There is no standing still. There is only moving forward or falling behind.
Disrupting the Car Insurance Industry
Ready or not, change is coming Disruptive ventures arise from mobile device ubiquity, data-powered AI, and digital platforms that connect buyers and suppliers in new ways. They are reshaping industries such as transportation (e.g., Uber, Lyft, and Didi Chuxing), hospitality (e.g., Airbnb and FlipKey), payment services (e.g., PayPal and TransferWise), and many more. Insurtech Is Hitting Critical Mass
The wisest insurance incumbents will seize the collaborative opportunities springing from this new environment. Launched in 2013, Chinese non-life insurer ZhongAn has already reached a market cap of US$13.6 billion on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, where it started trading in late September this year. ZhongAn uses artificial intelligence and big data to generate mass market sales over the internet.

Brian Rogers tells us how he got started with Linux
The year was 2005: I was just out of high school and living on my own. My sister and her husband came to visit, and on my way out to work one morning while they were in town, my brother-in-law asked me if he could use my computer. I knew he was good with computers, so I didn't mind. Then, he asked me what I use my computer for most of the time. Basic use: World of Warcraft and Firefox. Later that day, I got home from work just as they were heading out.
