First writing gig: The Metro, a free newspaper covering Nashville music. First full-time job: Nashville Scene entertainment editor.

Yes, but only electrics.

Why did you become a journalist?
I loved learning everything I could about music and musicians, and I loved telling stories. I got lucky enough to make a living at it.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I mostly reviewed records and concerts, but I also wrote the occasional student-interview feature.

The last couple of hours in the business day.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That we cover artist news that doesn't directly relate to radio.
