What was your first job as a journalist?

My first role was working as a reporter for the Pitt News, the student newspaper at the University of Pittsburgh.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

You're serving the masses, holding businesses and leaders accountable and supplying relevant audiences with original content.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

When many publications covered Susan Boyles album launch problems on Twitter with this hashtag #susanalbumparty.

Why did you become a journalist?

I became a journalist to share the insights about the digital world that I've been able to accumulate over my career with others.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did not.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

My article for the Huffington Post about 100 social media statistics and figures from 2012 because of the engaging conversation it spurred.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Work hard to meet your goals & above all, be relentless in your drive & efforts. No one will help you, unless you take the initiative.
