Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I look younger than I am. I loved using my mom's electronic typewriter as a kid.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Of course. Staff writer as a sophomore, co-editor-in-chief as a junior, and EIC as a senior. Freshmen weren't allowed.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
The person who followed up with me seven times. I don't always have time to reply, especially if your pitch isn't a fit for my outlets.
What's your favorite drink?
If I'm having cocktails, sazerac. Whisky, Macallan. Wine, cabernet or chianti. Otherwise, water and lots of it.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That there is one "best" way that helps everyone.
