It’s looking like a genuine wallet burster, going at a clip of almost two genuine AAA bangers a week. Seeing as the Pies got knocked out of the footy finals, I’ve certainly got nowhere else to be, so I’ll be trying my damnedest to get through everything the month has to offer. And in the case of Halloween, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Metro 2039 Hands-On Preview – A Stranger In A Familiar Land
After a disappointing experience with Metro Exodus, the third game in the series inspired by the literary works of Dmitry Glukhovsky, I couldn’t help but feel that trading Moscow in for a bigger, more hopeful Russian expanse betrayed the very essence that made the first two titles classics in the survival-action genre, and I wondered whether we’d get back to the spirit of Metro.
Gears Of War: E-Day Campaign Hands-On Preview – It’s Seriously… Good
If Halo is considered the Star Wars of the Xbox platform’s portfolio, then Gears of War could be compared to Terminator. It’s long been about humanity’s militant movement and revolution against a threat of their own making—the Locust horde is analogous to Skynet, in that sense.

With Mahler’s strained relationship with Xbox, about which the creator has been outspoken, it’s uncertain where his intel is coming from, but he declared the rumours “nonsense” in a post this morning. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, which largely focused on Sony’s increased focus on entertainment, such as movies, music, and, of course, video games, Sony CEO Hiroko Totoki noted that the company has yet to decide on a release date for the PlayStation 6. Even as analysts predict the machine could launch as early as 2027, the ongoing component shortage is cited as one reason Sony is hesitant to settle on a date. “Considering that importance, we need to take some action.

A Five-Year-Old Trailer For Star Wars: Eclipse Was Just Shown At D23

That hasn’t stopped Disney from showcasing the game’s same five-year-old trailer at their D23 expo, which is going on this week. Far from signs of life, it’s mildly encouraging that the platform was given.

Everything You Need To Know About Marvel’s Wolverine
Not only is Marvel’s Wolverine one of the hottest video games of the year, but it’s also the successor to the Marvel’s Spider-Man duology, officially giving birth to a shared universe for Insomniac’s Peter, Logan, and a whole band of lovable mutants. After seeing our Hugh as James “Logan” Howlett for what feels like forever, it’s encouraging that the baton has been passed to another Aussie as we remain the number one global exporter of Wolverines.

Marvel’s Wolverine Hands-On Preview – Snikt, Snikt!
Marvel’s Wolverine is the next superhero adventure from the team behind Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Insomniac’s first steps toward expanding their little Marvel universe. When compared to Peter Parker’s relative restraint, Wolverine’s violence seems gratuitous; however, it feels as if Insomniac has identified an unmet need for both themselves as artists and the game world, which has a maturity that reaches beyond Spider-Man’s street-level exploits.
Pro Jank Footy Review – Chaos Ball
After captivating me at last year’s PAX Australia, I’ve been anticipating Pro Jank Footy ever since. I’ve endeavoured to keep a keen eye on its development, including its stint on Steam Next Fest and its pub crawl as an arcade cabinet—an exceptionally fitting fit-out for a game such as this.

Halo: Campaign Evolved’s Secret Ending Points Toward A Potential Halo 2 Remake
Press Start may receive a commission when you buy from links on our site at no extra cost to you. It’s not uncommon for Halo games to hide secret endings behind completion of the Legendary campaign. In the original Halo, we got a silly, non-canon scene that shows Sgt. Johnson dancing with an Elite as the Pillar of Autumn’s core implodes, taking the ring world with it, while subsequent secret endings served to set up sequels in the blockbuster franchise.

The Odyssey Review – Practical Magic
Press Start may receive a commission when you buy from links on our site at no extra cost to you. There are so few film auteurs who can get away with purpose-building a film for a format that can be enjoyed in fewer than fifty locations worldwide, but Christopher Nolan has done just that with his latest film, The Odyssey, a relatively broad adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.
Halo: Campaign Evolved Review – A Fresh Start
Press Start may receive a commission when you buy from links on our site at no extra cost to you. In the twenty-five years following the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved, everyone worked to create the “Halo killer.” Killzone and Resistance both tried gallantly and failed, but that’s an example of the kind of mindshare Halo had at the height of its power, beginning with its original trilogy, through to Reach, and only briefly beyond that.

Agefield High: Rock The School Looks Like A Mix Of Bully And American Pie
Press Start may receive a commission when you buy from links on our site at no extra cost to you. Bully, or Canis Canem Edit, has always been a weird, crowned jewel from the Rockstar back catalogue, giving a small slice-of-life experience about the trials of school life and how fitting in is never straightforward; a most relatable trope. It was fun to stick to your timetable, overachieve in class, while taking the opportunity to cause chaos in those moments between.
