What was your first job as a journalist?
Long Beach City College governing board meeting.
How is social media changing news?
It allows everyone to be a reporter. And gives everyone a voice.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
The ability to inform the public the truth, no matter what.
Who do you wish followed you?
Anyone with HIV who feels alone and needs someone to relate to. Anyone who escaped DV and also feels alone.
Why did you become a journalist?
I fell in love with journalism in high school and press passes get you into amazing places. There are so many stories to be told.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
went to Mt. Carmel in San Diego, Ca I was on The Sun Newspaper & the school Literary Magazine staff. I covered everything but sports.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
All my HIV blogs, articles and the books I've been featured in.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Follow your passion, tell the truth, investigate your topics so you know what your talking about, be authentic to your stories and yourself.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
At college, or the park on the beach with my son. He swims and I write.
