What was your first job as a journalist?
I was just a staff writer at my college magazine
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I've actually gotten a modern white one as a present for Christmas one year!
How is social media changing news?
Social media can get any piece of information out to anyone in a matter of seconds, that's why it's crucial to make sure it's correct.
Why did you become a journalist?
I honestly kind of fell into it. It wasn't anything I thought about doing, but knew I wanted to write, but didn't think it would be this.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not work for my high school paper - and I'm not sure we even had one. We had the yearbook committee, and I knew someone who worked it
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
One of my first stories was an interview of an indie artist who I grew up listening to as a kid. I was too giddy
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
It takes a lot of time, and some luck, and maybe some of falling into it without realizing it might be what you want to do fulltime
What's your favorite drink?
Monster Energy, all day everyday
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
There are a lot of wonderful, amazing college-produced magazines out there. Distraction magazine was always an inspiration to us
