How is social media changing news?
Social media has made news faster, louder, and more direct. That can be valuable, especially in sports, where updates move quickly and readers want information in real time. But it also makes accuracy more important than ever. Speed helps, but trust is what keeps people coming back.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Clark Kent. Hard to beat Superman with a press badge.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist is to serve the reader. It means finding what matters, checking the facts, removing the noise, and explaining the story clearly. In sports, especially fantasy sports, that means being fast, accurate, fair, and useful without sacrificing trust.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Brief, direct, and relevant. Send clear story ideas related to fantasy sports, sports media, writing, editing, SEO, or digital marketing. Include the key angle, why it matters, and why it fits my work. No vague mass pitches, please.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Google Docs, WordPress, Slack, Grammarly Pro, Google Sheets, SEO tools, and a mix of trusted sports/stat platforms for research, fact-checking, player news, and fantasy analysis.**

Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I’ve always been drawn to the craft of making information clearer, sharper, and more useful for readers. My background started in copywriting and editing, but sports journalism gave me a place to combine that experience with something I genuinely care about: helping fans and fantasy players understand what matters quickly. Whether I’m editing news, writing player updates, or breaking down fantasy impact, I enjoy taking fast-moving information and turning it into clean, accurate, useful content.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did not.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I’m proudest of the RotoBaller fantasy football articles I’ve worked on. They pushed me to combine research, player analysis, clean writing, and fantasy strategy into content that helps readers make better decisions.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
My advice to aspiring journalists is to take the craft seriously. Learn how to write cleanly, edit yourself honestly, and protect your credibility. In sports media, things move fast, but being first means very little if you are not accurate. Focus on clarity, facts, timing, and usefulness. The goal is not to show people how smart you are. The goal is to help the reader understand what matters.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
The best pitch is one that feels like it was actually written for me. Clear angle, relevant topic, useful context, and an obvious reason my readers would care.
What's the worst pitch you ever got?
The worst pitches are the ones that clearly have nothing to do with my work. If I cover fantasy sports and writing, sending me a random product launch with no clear angle, relevance, or reader value is an easy pass.
What's your favorite drink?
Arnold Palmer
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Most likely watching sports, spending time with family, or mentally escaping to Prince Edward Island, my favorite place in the world.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Athletic
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The biggest misconception is that fantasy sports coverage is just guessing. Good fantasy writing is reporting, context, stats, timing, and clear analysis working together.
