How is social media changing news?
It accelerates how stories break, broadens who gets heard, and lets journalists report with—and respond to—their audiences instantly. At the same time, it blurs the line between reporting and reaction, rewards speed over verification, and amplifies misinformation.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I’ve got a soft spot for Carl Kolchak from Kolchak: The Night Stalker.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No—I didn’t work for a high school newspaper.
But I did develop similar skills later on: researching, asking good questions, and turning complex information into clear, engaging stories.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Monday to Wednesday mornings are best—before deadlines pile up and while there’s still room to shape a story.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
In reality, project and operations management is far more about people, decision-making, and trade-offs than schedules and tools. The real work happens in aligning stakeholders with different priorities, managing uncertainty, translating strategy into action, and adjusting course when conditions change. Gantt charts and dashboards help—but they’re supporting actors, not the main event.
Another frequent misconception is that success is purely process-driven. Strong processes matter, but outcomes usually hinge on context: organizational culture, community impact, political or budget constraints, and how well trust is built across teams.
