We spent an educational, but somewhat depressing day in September, 2023 on a Viking optional excursion to Terezin, a city in the Czech Republic. The excursion was part of a Viking River Cruise pre-cruise extension in Prague prior to the Grand European Cruise which took us from Budapest to Amsterdam. As we traveled through the Czech countryside to our destination 43 miles north of Prague, our guide provided us with some essential background. Terezin consisted of a city and a fortress.

The puppies we held in our arms might likely be the Iditarod stars of tomorrow. Approximately 40 of us had journeyed to Husky Homestead in Denali Park in Alaska to meet these lovable dogs and learn more about their training for sled dog racing. We were part of Viking’s Pristine Alaska Tour, a post excursion that continued on to incorporate more Alaskan adventures after completing Viking Ocean Cruise Line’s “Alaska and the Inside Passage”.

Nacho Daddy is back in Henderson and I’m glad. My wife and I remember an excellent dining experience at the original Nacho Daddy in Henderson several years ago. That restaurant closed, but a new one is now open at St. Rose Square in Henderson. We are equally pleased with the new setting. The 4,500 square restaurant has an open feeling. It features indoor and outdoor dining with a garage door-style patio, 14 high def televisions, neon art installations and fabulous food.
The Winter Fancy Food Show in February at the convention center in Las Vegas, provided many chances to learn more about food products. At the Vine to Bar Chocolates booth, we learned that their chocolates contain amounts of Chardonnay Marc. I am not an avid wine drinker and had never heard of Chardonnay Marc. Chardonnay Marc consists of grape skins, seeds, and stems, and is a co-product of grape juice production for Chardonnay wine making.

Global Gaming Expo back in Las Vegas
What better place than Las Vegas to showcase an industry that provides slot machines – and more slot machines – for the gaming industry. The Global Gaming Expo (G2E), a gambling industry trade show presented by the American Gaming Association (AGA) and organized by Reed Exhibitions returned to Las Vegas from October 4-8, 2021 in the Venetian Convention and Expo Center. CES – 2021 – Innovations Continue During Pandemic With On-Line Presentations
CES 2021 was certainly unique this year. In past years, we’ve attended on multiple days and visited scores of press conferences, exhibits and booths where we learned about the newest innovations in consumer electronics. This year, instead of driving to the Convention Center in Las Vegas, we visited virtually. It just isn’t the same, but still, there was much to see and learn on-line.
Bottiglia Restaurant At Green Valley Casino Review - Great Food And Comfortable Patio Dining
During the Covid pandemic, we have limited our Las Vegas area local restaurant choices to establishments providing patio or outdoor seating. Bottiglia at Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa and Casino in Henderson, Nevada offers not only patio seating, but also great food at reasonable prices. It has become a favorite of ours. The Pioneer Saloon Review – Good Food History and Ghosts Close to Las Vegas
The Pioneer Saloon in Goodsprings, Nevada, about a 40 minute drive south of the Strip, is not your typical Las Vegas restaurant. A visit there includes some good food and fascinating history. The Saloon/restaurant was built in 1913 and its interior and exterior walls are of stamped tin manufactured by Sears and Roebuck. It is believed that it is one of the last, if not the last, of its kind in the United States.
