Observation of a superfluid-to-insulator transition of bilayer excitons - Nature
Abstract One of the most remarkable properties associated with Bose–Einstein condensation (BEC) is superfluidity, in which the system exhibits zero viscosity and flows without dissipation. The superfluid phase has been observed in wide-ranging bosonic systems spanning naturally occurring quantum fluids, such as liquid helium, to engineered platforms such as bilayer excitons and cold atom systems1,2,3,4.
Publisher Correction: Van der Waals waveguide quantum electrodynamics probed by infrared nano-photoluminescence - Nature Photonics
Correction to: Nature Photonics https://doi.org/10.1038/s41566-025-01694-1, published online 19 June 2023. In the version of this article originally published, there was an error in the fourth paragraph of the “Hyperspectral nano-photoluminescence imaging” section, where in the text now reading “Each mode ℓ = 0,1,2 … in Fig. 2 is fully defined…,” ℓ = 0,1,2 … first appeared as “β ≈ 0.8.” The error has been corrected in the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
Van der Waals waveguide quantum electrodynamics probed by infrared nano-photoluminescence - Nature Photonics
Abstract Atomically layered van der Waals (vdW) materials exhibit remarkable properties, including highly confined infrared waveguide modes and the capacity for infrared emission in the monolayer limit. Here we engineered structures that leverage both of these nano-optical functionalities. Specifically, we encased a photoluminescing atomic sheet of MoTe2 within two bulk crystals of WSe2, forming a vdW waveguide for the embedded light-emitting monolayer.
Current-driven nonequilibrium electrodynamics in graphene revealed by nano-infrared imaging - Nature Communications
Abstract Electrons in low-dimensional materials driven out of equilibrium by a strong electric field exhibit intriguing effects that have direct analogues in high-energy physics. In this work we demonstrate that two of these effects can be observed in graphene, leading to relevant implications for light-matter interactions at the nanoscale.
Perspectives on Anesthesia and Perioperative Patient Safety: Past, Present, and Future
During the past 70 years, patient safety science has evolved through four organizational frameworks known as Safety-0, Safety -1, Safety-2, and Safety-3. Their evolution reflects the realization over time that blaming people, chasing errors, fixing one-offs, and regulation would not create the desired patient safety. In Safety-0, the oldest framework, harm events arise from clinician failure; event prevention relies on better staffing, education, and basic standards.
Electroencephalographic Indices for Clinical Endpoints during Propofol Anesthesia in Infants: An Early-phase Propofol Biomarker-finding Study
Unlike expired sevoflurane concentration, propofol lacks a biomarker for its brain effect site concentration, leading to dosing imprecision particularly in infants. Electroencephalography monitoring can serve as a biomarker for propofol effect site concentration, yet proprietary electroencephalography indices are not validated in infants. The authors evaluated spectral edge frequency (SEF95) as a propofol anesthesia biomarker in infants.
Visualizing moiré ferroelectricity via plasmons and nano-photocurrent in graphene/twisted-WSe2 structures - Nature Communications
|
Abstract Ferroelectricity, a spontaneous and reversible electric polarization, is found in certain classes of van der Waals (vdW) materials. The discovery of ferroelectricity in twisted vdW layers provides new opportunities to engineer spatially dependent electric and optical properties associated with the configuration of moiré superlattice domains and the network of domain walls.

Pairing states of composite fermions in double-layer graphene
Abstract Heterostructures of vertically stacked graphene double layers, separated by a thin tunnel barrier, provide a highly tunable system to explore strongly interacting electron states. This is because the interlayer Coulomb interactions can be sensitively tuned simply by varying the barrier thickness.
