Laser–plasma amplification of an ultrabroadband laser pulse to 0.3 TW
Abstract Producing on-target laser intensities much greater than 1023 W cm−2 with current laser technologies is a roadblock to accessing new regimes of physics such as strong-field quantum electrodynamics. Laser–plasma amplifiers show promise to realize these intensities by augmenting the final amplifier and compressor in traditional chirped-pulse-amplification architectures with a plasma-based amplification and compression stage that operates at a much higher damage threshold.
Dephasingless laser wakefield acceleration of electrons using a flying focus

Abstract Laser–plasma accelerators are able to sustain electric fields that are orders of magnitude stronger than conventional radio-frequency cavities, offering a path towards ultracompact, high-energy particle accelerators. It is predicted that electron energies exceeding 100 GeV can be achieved using metre-scale accelerators, which would match the highest-energy electrons ever produced at CERN’s Large Electron–Positron Collider.

Improved filters for angular filter refractometry
Topics Fresnel diffraction, Fourier optics, Refractometry, Lasers, Laser ablation, Plasma diagnostics, Plasma flows, Stochastic processes Angular filter refractometry (AFR) is an optical diagnostic that measures the absolute contours of a line-integrated electron density gradient from which, with some assumptions, the line-integrated electron density profile can be inferred.1,2 A probe beam passes through an object plasma, where it is refracted.

Simulation of grating compressor misalignment tolerances and mitigation strategies for chirped-pulse–amplification systems of varying bandwidths and beam sizes
Abstract The effects of pulse compressor grating misalignment on pulse duration and focusability are simulated for chirped-pulse–amplification systems of varying bandwidths, beam sizes, groove densities, and incident angles. Tilt-alignment tolerances are specified based on a 2 drop in focused intensity, illustrating how tolerances scale with bandwidth and compressor beam size, which scales with energy when transformed via known grating damage thresholds.
