I finally got the $499 Trump Phone. It's the worst Android phone I've used in 2026
C. Scott Brown / Android Authority In June 2025, I placed a $100 pre-order for a new device colloquially known as the “Trump Phone.” It took over a year, but I finally got what is officially known as the Trump Mobile T1. I have been putting it through its paces ever since. Let’s address the elephant in the room right away. It would be incredibly easy, and perhaps expected, to get deeply political in a hands-on review like this.
The Galaxy S26 proves Google was right all along
I was out in San Francisco this week to get some hands-on time with the brand-new Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup. Let me be right up front: the very first thing I noticed - and I'm certain many of you did as well - is that these phones haven't changed much at all from last year's iterations. Yet, despite this glaring lack of hardware innovation, two models in this new lineup have seen their prices increase by a whopping $100 each.
Gemini's new sidebar in Chrome is surprisingly helpful but I found its limits
Earlier this week, Google announced a wave of new AI features coming to the Chrome browser. As someone who spends nearly his entire day living inside a browser, I was eager to get my hands on them. I've been putting these tools through their paces on my laptop, and while some of them feel like a genuine win, others left me scratching my head - or just waiting for the progress bar to move. A quick heads-up, though: Many of these features are currently in early access.
The future is here, but also not
When the original Galaxy Fold landed years ago, it was a clunky, fragile promise of things to come. It took Samsung six years to refine that vision into the Galaxy Z Fold 7, a device that finally felt thin, light, and "normal." Now, here at CES 2026, I've just gone hands-on with the new Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. It promises to be the next great leap forward: a phone that unfolds not just once, but twice, turning into a legitimate 10-inch tablet. I must admit, using it feels like holding the future.
It's now 2026, and I still don't have my Trump phone
Happy New Year! I hope you got into 2026 safely, and I sincerely hope this is your best year ever. While I can make a lot of predictions about this year - Samsung will launch a Galaxy S26, Apple will launch a foldable iPhone, and the AI bubble will probably burst - one thing I can't predict is when I'll actually get the Trump phone I pre-ordered back in June. It's been nearly seven months since I put down my deposit, and I've got literally nothing to show for it.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is your Reader's Choice for best phone of 2025
After three straight days of voting across multiple platforms, thousands of Android Authority fans have selected the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra ($1299.99 at Samsung) as the best phone of 2025 and the winner of this year's Reader's Choice award! Out of all the amazing smartphones you could buy, our readers say this one is at the top of the heap. Now that you know the Reader's Choice award winner, you might be curious how that came to be.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is your Reader's Choice for best phone of 2025
6 hours ago The FBI has issued a new warning as attacks surge over the holidays. None of the lures are new, but cybercriminals know you’re more likely to fall victim when your guard is down. Even the bureau’s own agents are not immune from the plague of text, email and phone attacks. “We just don’t fall for …
Vote for our Reader's Choice Award for the best phone of 2025! (Elimination)
Ryan Haines / Android Authority Can you feel it? 2026 is rumbling in the distance, getting ever closer. That can only mean one thing: It's time to figure out the best smartphone of 2025! Here at Android Authority, we give out two major phone awards at the end of the year. One is our Editor's Choice Award for the year's best phone, which we decide internally based on a year's worth of objective testing, data collection, and our general expertise.
I tried Google's 3 new Android XR glasses prototypes, and they're incredible
A few months ago, Meta held one of the most disastrous launch events in recent memory, at which it unveiled the Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses. Despite the wave of technical issues that flat-out ruined many of the live demos on stage, Meta still won the day, because its new AR glasses were actually really cool.
I found ten amazing Pixel 10 accessories for under $25 each
So, you just dropped a whole lot of cash on your new Pixel 10, but now your wallet is empty. The problem is, you still need to buy accessories. Well, don't worry: I found ten of the best, and every single one is under $25. I spent the last week testing all of them, from cases and screen protectors to chargers and even gaming controllers. I'm going to tell you about all ten so you can save your money and get some terrific gear for your new Pixel.
I saw Corning's secret lab where smartphone glass is made (and tortured)
Take a look at your smartphone. The chances are incredibly high that the sheets of glass covering the front and back come from a company called Corning. You almost certainly know it by its more famous brand name: Gorilla Glass. Since the launch of the original iPhone back in 2007, Corning's glass has dominated the smartphone industry.

Android and iPhone users could know peace while driving thanks to the AAWireless TWO Plus
If your car only allows wired connections when using Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, the AAWireless TWO Plus solves that problem. It works with Android phones and iPhones and will work in most cars. It does exactly what it says it will do 100% of the time and is priced well to boot. Back in 2024, I reviewed the AAWireless TWO ($54.99 at Amazon), an inexpensive dongle that can turn any wired Android Auto head unit into a wireless one.
Samsung's new XR headset is secretly a Pixel
Last week, I got to spend some time with Samsung's newest device, a mixed reality headset called the Galaxy XR. This is the "Project Moohan" product Samsung has been working on for ages to take on the Apple Vision Pro. It's an important launch for the company, and it's even priced to compete - well, sort of. At $1,799, it's about half the price of Apple's headset, which is certainly good news, but still a massive amount of money.

Just the opening act
For nearly a year, Samsung has been hyping up a new XR headset, previously known as Project Moohan. Now, finally, we know everything there is to know about the device, which is officially called the Samsung Galaxy XR. It's the product of a massive collaboration between Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm, and it's packed with impressive tech.

This Pixel Watch 4 feature has changed how I use a smartwatch
For the past year, the Google Pixel Watch 3 has barely left my wrist. It's been a fantastic and reliable smartwatch. It does everything I expect it to do and does it well. However, at its core, it's just a typical smartwatch. My habits remained the same: I'd glance at notifications, manually start tracking my bike ride in the Fitbit app, or swipe over to a widget to check the weather. My watch was a convenient, wrist-mounted second screen for my phone, but it was largely a passive experience.

I love the Pixel 10, but I wish it had these 5 features
I'm what you might call the " Pixel guy" around here. When the Google Pixel 10 series launched, I was, as you can imagine, pretty excited. And for good reason! These are fantastic phones. From the standard Pixel 10 to the Pixel 10 Pro XL and even to the outrageously expensive Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Google has delivered a lineup that is refined, intelligent, and a joy to use. I've already bought the Pixel 10 Pro, and I have a strong feeling it will be my pick for the best phone of 2025.

You're wrong about the Pixel 10 Pro
But you know who wasn't so excited about it? A lot of you. Almost immediately after the reveal, the internet's various comment sections and social media feeds filled with a familiar, cynical refrain: "It's just the Pixel 9 Pro again." After spending an hour reading through a ton of the comments, the sentiment of the public was clear to me: the Pixel 10 Pro, at least on the surface, is a disappointment and not worth the upgrade.

I put a leaked iPhone 17 Pro Max case on an iPhone 16 Pro Max
Android Authority obtained a leaked iPhone 17 Pro Max case from a company called Thinborne. The case fits very well on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, showing that the sizing is nearly identical. However, Apple appears to be moving the LiDAR sensor, microphone, and flash, so iPhone 16/17 cases will likely not be interchangeable. Now that the Google Pixel 10 launch is over, it's time to look to the next huge smartphone launch of the year: the Apple iPhone 17 series.
7 things about the Pixel 10 series you didn't hear at Made by Google
The Made by Google event was very, very different this year. Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the launch was more like an hour-long segment of The Tonight Show - his regular hosting gig - than any tech launch we've seen before. This was by design. Google wanted the launch of the Pixel 10 series to be for everyone, not just tech nerds. In that respect, it was a resounding success, with the stream currently sitting at 6.6 million views, as of me writing this sentence.

Don't judge a book by its cover
It's hard to believe we are on the tenth generation of Pixel phones. Not only is it hard to believe because the OG Pixel launched nine years ago (seriously; I'm so old), but also because it's so rare for Google to actually stick with any kind of product for that long. Regardless, here we are with the Google Pixel 10 series - and it might just be the company's most important launch ever.

The Google Pixel 10 Pro is boring...and I'm buying it
We are just a week away from Google's official reveal of the Pixel 10 series. I've been using the Pixel 9 Pro as my daily driver since it launched last year, and it's not just my favorite phone of 2024, but possibly my favorite phone...ever. Now, as the rumor mill churns at full speed for the Pixel 10 launch on August 20, the overall consensus for the upcoming Pixel 10 Pro is that it is going to be, in a word, boring. From the outside, it looks like a bland, iterative update.

Just because I like Pixels doesn't mean I hate Samsung
It's one of the oldest rivalries in the consumer world: Coke vs Pepsi. If I told you I prefer Coke, would you then assume I hate Pepsi? Any sane person would answer "no" to that question. "It's just a preference," they'd say. For some reason, though, that same logic doesn't always seem to apply in the tech world, especially when it comes to smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has solved the wrong problem
Whatever you do, don’t buy a Google Pixel phone right now Now is NOT the time to buy. Google’s Pixel phones are often among the most highly-regarded in the Android world. The most recent Pixel 9 series is no exception to that rule, and, if anything, it’s the best example of it yet. Whether we’re talking about the baseline Pixel 9 or any of the flagship …
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has solved the wrong problem
Ever since foldable phones first appeared, I've had a complicated relationship with them. I wanted to love the concept from the very beginning, and I truly tried, but I could never get past how unwieldy they were. If you'll remember, early foldables were comically thick, essentially feeling like two regular phones stacked on top of each other. Over the years, manufacturers have been on a mission to slim them down.

My favorite Google Pixel features that don't get enough love
Google Pixel phones are packed with intelligent and helpful features. While Google ensures many of these are front and center by promoting them when you first set up the phone or by periodically reminding you about them when you perform certain tasks, a surprising number of equally brilliant features fly under the radar. These hidden gems can significantly improve your daily experience with your phone. It's a shame that a ton of users simply don't know about them.
Why I am a Pixel guy
I've been an Android guy for 15 years. Fun fact: I have never owned an iPhone. I've been on Team Android since day one, and over that decade and a half, I've used phones from nearly every major brand you can think of - Samsung, LG, OnePlus, and more. But for the past few years, I've been all-in on one brand: Google Pixel. My current daily driver is the Google Pixel 9 Pro, and whenever I need to use another phone for work, I immediately find myself missing it.

After 6 months, I'm still not over Samsung's lazy Galaxy S25 launch
Surprisingly, at the time, Samsung teased that a significant part of the Galaxy S25 family was yet to come: an ultra-thin, ultra-lightweight phone called the Galaxy S25 Edge. This piqued my interest, as I thought it might be the one upgrade that really elevates the series from ho-hum to amazing. However, it's no secret that the Galaxy S25 Edge has landed with a thud. The company has reportedly seen sales nosedive much earlier than expected.

I would use Google's AI tools more if it fixed this glaring problem
Ever since ChatGPT started gaining in popularity, every other tech company has been rushing to keep up with its advancements in generative AI. Although some might argue that OpenAI's chatbot is still on top, the company that I believe has come closest to surpassing it is Google.
I love the look and feel of the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but the price confuses me
When Samsung launches new foldable phones, most people who read sites like Android Authority are only really interested in the Fold model - the ultra-expensive one that opens like a book. However, the foldable that sells the most is the Flip model - the smaller, cheaper design that opens like a clamshell.

I've used the Nothing Phone 3, and I probably said 'That's fun!' a dozen times Original
When the very first Nothing phone landed - the Nothing Phone 1 in 2022 - it was a breath of fresh air in an increasingly stale smartphone market. Not only did the Nothing Phone 1 look different from every other phone available at the time, but it offered some pretty stellar specs at a relatively low price. Sure, its cameras were pretty weak and Nothing OS was still finding its footing, but it was a solid opening move for a brand new company.
