Single-cell analysis reveals KLF10-high macrophages induced by glioblastoma cells are associated with tumor progression
Abstract Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary malignant tumor of the adult central nervous system, with nearly 90% of cases recurring within two years despite standard surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) play critical roles in GBM recurrence, but their characteristics in recurrent GBM remain insufficiently defined.
First Record of the Breeding Biology of the Biet's Laughingthrush (Ianthocincla bieti) in Southwest China
1 Introduction Studies on breeding biology and behavior are fundamental to understand life history evolution and the conservation of rare species (Stutchbury and Morton 2008; Martin 2015; Nagy et al. 2019; Wang et al. 2023). Under the current scenario of global climate change, life history parameters are crucial variables in predictive modeling of species fate (Urban et al. 2016).
The characteristics of HER2 low-expressing breast cancer: a China single-center real-world data analysis
Human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) is a receptor on the cell surface that is activated after receiving specific signals, transmits information into cells and regulates cell growth and proliferation. In breast cancer cells, HER2 also plays an important role in regulating cell proliferation, survival, differentiation and migration [1]. Slamon et al. first reported in 1987 that HER2 amplification was associated with poor prognosis of breast cancer [2].
Three cases of collared owlet depredation on the green‐backed tit within nest boxes
1 INTRODUCTION Hole size is an important aspect of the suitability of a nest site for birds that breed in cavities (Le Roux et al., 2016). Smaller holes can offer more security against competition and predators than larger entrances which are less desirable to small birds (Juškaitis, 2021; Valera et al., 2019). According to previous studies, smaller holes were preferred because they can keep numerous predators from going through and getting to the nest's contents (Walankiewicz, 1991).
Simultaneous suppression of PKM2 and PHGDH elicits synergistic anti-cancer effect in NSCLC
Introduction Metabolic reprogramming is considered one of the hallmarks of cancer progression (Hanahan and Weinberg, 2011), and may include enhanced aerobic glycolysis, glutaminolysis, amino acid and lipid metabolism, and induction of the pentose phosphate pathway (Schiliro and Firestein, 2021; Zhao and Li, 2021). The Warburg effect, proposed by Otto Warburg in the 1920s, suggests that cancer cells always upregulate glycolysis even in the presence of abundant oxygen (Warburg et al., 1927).
