Nothing but the Truth: Keeping Science in Scientific Research
Falsifying data, fabricating references, peer-reviewing your own manuscript. There’s no shortage of ways that someone can damage the integrity of scientific research. Enter Ivan Oransky, MD, co-founder of Retraction Watch: an online database tracking published manuscripts that have been retracted for myriad reasons. Efforts like Retraction Watch are often some of the first—and last—lines of defense protecting knowledge and truth.
Broncos near victory against chiefs proves young team is not a lost cause
It came down to the final drive for Denver. A series of quick and effective drives downfield could have allowed the Broncos to upset the Chiefs. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen; but then again, no one expected the game to be this close. Let’s back up a bit.
Expectations vs. Reality Following Broncos vs. Saints
Expectation: The NFL would postpone the game until Denver had an eligible quarterback. Reality: Roger Goodell didn’t give a f%#*. In an attempt to send a message about the consequences of not following COVID-19 protocols during team practices, Roger Goodell instead compromised the integrity of the NFL. He picks and chooses which teams to give leeway to in regard to the virus instead of being consistent across the league. For reference, the Ravens vs.
Three Up, One Down Across Three Games
The past three weeks have been a struggle for the Denver Broncos. The defense has been the team’s safe haven; without them, they easily would’ve lost to Miami this past Sunday. After losing to both Atlanta and Las Vegas before sneaking a win past Miami, where have the top players on Denver’s team been trending? Three Up Justin Simmons (FS) Simmons is one of the most overlooked players on the Broncos team.
Denver Charges Through Los Angeles With Fourth Quarter Comeback
Kick it into high gear, Lock is here! In one of the most impressive offensive turnarounds this season, the Broncos pushed their way back from a 21-point deficit to win 31-30 against the Chargers on Sunday. The team scored 21 of their points in the fourth quarter. Drew Lock finally found the offensive chemistry he had been desperately waiting for. Lock connected with 7 different receivers—3 of which scored touchdowns.
Broncos Outplayed In Loss to the Chiefs
The Broncos got outplayed. It’s as simple as that. In a 43-16 loss, Denver played with very little punch. Here’s a quick rundown of how lopsided the game was statistically: 1st Downs Chiefs: 17 Broncos: 24 Total Yards Chiefs: 286 Broncos: 411 Total Plays Chiefs: 51 Broncos: 76 What do these numbers tell us? The Chiefs played with efficiency, whereas the Broncos were unable to convert in the end zone. Denver had every opportunity to get downfield and score, but they fell short.
Broncos Defense (and Brandon McManus) Save the Day With Win Over Patriots
There was plenty of hype surrounding Drew Lock’s return to the field on Sunday—perhaps too much hype. Lock started out rusty, understandably, but he never pulled it together. The quarterback went 10-for-24 with two interceptions and no touchdowns and the Broncos’ offense only converted on 4-of-14 third downs. The offense needs some work. So how did the Broncos manage to beat the Patriots?
A Win is a Win, No Matter How Ugly
This season may continue to hold many uncertainties and disappointments… but at the very least, the Broncos can still beat the Jets. Both teams went into Week 4 with a record of 0-3, and neither team thought they would lose on Thursday night. The Jets, a notoriously weak franchise, had a strategy. With eleven players on Denver’s team benched, Adam Gase planned to use this to his advantage.
Broncos Week 2: A Series of Unfortunate Injuries
First Drew Lock, then Demarcus Walker, Dre’Mont Jones and Courtland Sutton. How many Broncos’ injuries does it take to lose a game? It really only took one, and the rest fell like dominos. Lock left the game during the first quarter, and the team promptly collapsed. For starters, there was a clear lack of leadership. Jeff Driskel is supposed to be a seasoned veteran quarterback, but at times he could’ve been mistaken for a rookie.
Denver Broncos: Six Lesson Learned from Week 1
It’s abundantly clear from this game against the Titans that the Broncos still have some kinks to work out. However, for the first game of a unique season with a very young team, they played pretty well. Here are six lessons learned from Monday night: Lesson 1: Don’t forget the fundamentals If there is one thing Denver takes away from this game, it’s to focus on the fundamentals. It’s easy for players to get ahead of themselves in the heat of the game, especially in Week 1.
Broncos vs Titans Game Preview
The Broncos face off against the Titans with two instant disadvantages. Von Miller broke hearts with a potentially season-ending injury. The linebacker dislocated his peroneal tendon during the final play of last Tuesday’s practice. His status for the remainder of the season is currently unknown. A couple of days later, news of Courtland Sutton’s injury surfaced. Sutton’s game status is currently up in the air as he did not participate in practice on Friday.
Win/Loss Predictions for Broncos’ Second Half
The Broncos are (theoretically) 4-2 going into the second half of the regular season. How will things shake over the last several weeks? Does the offense finally develop a fluid chemistry? Will the defense break down when they are needed most? Who are the undiscovered superstars that will carry Denver into the playoffs? Week 7: Against Chiefs (10/25) Prediction: Loss There isn’t much the Broncos will be able to do against the Chiefs.
Win/Loss Predictions for Broncos' First Half
Denver kicks off their season in just over a month from now. What progress will Drew Lock and the Broncos make in 2020? Will they compete for a wildcard spot? An AFC West crown? Here is a very honest take on the upcoming season. Week 1: vs Titans (9/14) Prediction: Loss The Broncos’ young team could easily come into the regular season guns ablaze. However, it’s more likely they will need to warm up to the professional competition—especially since there are no preseason games.
How Covid-19 Affects Broncos' Starting Roster
The one consistency within the Broncos 2020 training camp is that things are changing every day. As Covid-19 health concerns continue to threaten the legitimacy of the NFL season, players across the board are opting not to play. Kyle Peko (DE) and Ja’Wuan James (RT) are the only two Broncos who have decided against participating thus far. Both players made their decisions on account of personal and family matters.
