What was your first job as a journalist?
Game reviews and fandom articles for The Geek Initiative
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes! I used to type short, incoherent stories on it. That was fun.
How is social media changing news?
For the worse. Everything's about eye-catches and starting a brawl now. No finesse. No content.
Who do you wish followed you?
I'm not successful in writing about horror, dark fantasy, and weird fiction until Stephen King follows me on social media.
Why did you become a journalist?
Writing is pretty much the one thing I'm good at. So I decided to do that. A lot.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Probably my article on how Dune is fantasy and genre's a fake construct.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
This job is mainly luck and friendships, so be nice and hold on to every gig you get.
When's the best time to pitch you?
1 PM to 7 PM
What's your favorite drink?
Coffee at the moment, because I can't have alcohol due to health reasons
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Asleep. I don't get out much these days.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Don't have one at the moment, but only because it's difficult to play favorites. Probably Daily Pnut or PC Gamer
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That "all I do" is "read books and write book reviews." I do a whole lot more than that.
