My first role was as a reporting assistant, supporting editors and contributing to news coverage while developing core reporting skills.

Social media has accelerated the news cycle and expanded access to information, while also increasing the importance of verification, context, and responsible reporting. Speed matters, but accuracy and credibility matter more.

To report facts accurately, provide context, ask difficult questions, and serve the public interest with integrity and responsibility.

By email, with a clear subject line, concise summary, relevant data, and direct access to knowledgeable sources. Timely and well-targeted pitches are preferred.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Data and statistics platforms, spreadsheets, content management systems, news monitoring tools, and standard office and communication software.

Why did you become a journalist?
To help people understand complex economic issues and how decisions made by governments, companies, and financial institutions affect everyday life. I believe clear, accurate reporting is essential for informed decision-making.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No — my interest in journalism developed later through academic and professional experience.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
An in-depth report on how inflation and interest rate decisions directly affected households and businesses, translating complex economic policy into clear, practical information for readers.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be curious, read widely, and learn to work with data. Develop strong reporting fundamentals, question assumptions, and always verify information. Clarity, context, and accuracy matter more than speed.

Weekdays during business hours (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. BRT). For time-sensitive economic data or breaking financial news, early mornings are preferred.
