Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, but just for kicks. Not for real.

Why did you become a journalist?

Might as well write it all down. It was already going on in my head anyway.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

A year ago, my city endured a series of devastating, highly publicized deaths. I wrote a lament and it's something I still think about.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Morning, which is the best time to do everything! Too bad it doesn't last all day!

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A culinary tour of Mexico with a James Beard Award winning chef

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Outside. On the screened in porch.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it might not be welcomed.
