Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked for a small local paper in the Pittsburgh suburbs. My first assignment was to cover every area high school graduation.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. I'm almost 40. I miss that sound.
How is social media changing news?
For better and worse.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Anyone posing as a reporter on Fox News. They make me laugh. I like them the same way I enjoyed professional wrestling when I was six.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To have an unquenchable thirst for figuring things out.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Call me out of the blue. I like hearing someone's voice when they are talking about a story. My number is easy to find on my website.
What's your favorite social network?
Ones in which everyone has their phones in their pockets and hangs out having a good time.
Who do you wish followed you?
Surf legend Kelly Slater and about 100k others - doesn't matter who.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because I like to travel to unusual and exciting places and I'm exceptionally nosy.
