What was your first job as a journalist?
My first job as a journalist was at Radio France Limoges when I was 17. I was sent to interview the French public with a tape recorder.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. And Tippex.
How is social media changing news?
People can access news so quickly now — social media has changed the landscape of 'traditional' news forever. Bye, bye newspapers...
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Lois Lane
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
With humour and honesty. Plus it always helps to be addressed by name, rather than 'Hi dear' — or worse — by someone else's name.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
On a day-to-day basis, I use WordPress, Ahrefs, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and KeySearch. Plus InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
What's your favorite social network?
It used to be Instagram - but the desperation to be 'Tik Tok' is killing me. I've fallen in love with Twitter again.
Who do you wish followed you?
Olivia Colman. I met her at a party once and got all fan-girl over her (not a great look for a 45-year-old woman). The shame!
Why did you become a journalist?
Because I love writing, and I'm nosy.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No — but I worked on a local radio station. I presented a show from the age of 17-22.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Does my 8th-grade Creative Writing competition win count? I even got a badge and a certificate.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write like nobody's reading.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Anytime is fine — but whatever time you send it, I'll read the pitches between 9am-11am in the morning — GMT.
What's your favorite drink?
An espresso martini
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
DIY-ing, wallpapering, painting — generally tearing the house to pieces
