Honno Authors Book Fair 2022 Guest Post with Thorne Moore
16 Wednesday Feb 2022 Posted by Carol Lovekin in Uncategorized ≈ 3 Comments In the second of my guest posts asking some of our authors to share their thoughts about book fairs and the lack thereof over the past two years, I’m delighted to invite Thorne Moore to share her musings. Thorne is another founding member of the the Narberth Book Fair (formally of Tenby) and she is one of Honno’s most successful authors.
Guest post with Judith Barrow
When my friend, Judith Barrow, and I – both published by Honno – realised we had been shortlisted, alongside one another, for the Literature Wales Book of the Year/Fiction Award, we immediately agreed on two things: we were chuffed to bits for one another & it was amazing to be recognised, slightly past the prime of our lives, for such a prestigious award. This led to a discussion about being published by a press that, amongst its many attributes, doesn’t see age.
Bluesky days… ‘the being and the doing…’
26 Sunday Apr 2020 Posted by Carol Lovekin in Uncategorized ≈ Leave a comment The weather is glorious. Clear blue skies & a bird song soundtrack, tempting me out of doors. Not a day passes when I don’t feel grateful to live in a small rural town with access to the countryside. Not that I’m walking in all my favourite places. Staying safe never felt more crucial. In these locked down days you’d be forgiven for thinking a vast number of words have been written.
Wild Spinning Girls
By Carol Lovekin Wild Spinning Girls is a haunting story of two young women living in the shadow of their lost and brilliant mothers. It’s a novel about female power - its secrets and its history, its contradictions and limits - and about the hidden connections that draw us together. The story is strung on a thread of lush imagery and a deep love of the natural world. Carol Lovekin’s writing is as powerful and delicate as Heather’s bone necklace, and as filled with faery magic as Ida’s red shoes.

It's A Wrap : BookerTalk
Clearly I am a fan of taking things to the wire. I finished book 13 from my #summer reading list with five minutes to spare before the end of the deadline. But if September 3 had come and gone and I still had a few pages left to read, I don’t imagine anything disastrous would have befallen me. I’m pretty chuffed that I managed to read 13 books. . I know plenty of other bloggers reached the heights of 20 but that was never going to happen for me.
My Welsh heart
11 Sunday Aug 2019 Posted by Carol Lovekin in Uncategorized ≈ 5 Comments In my various author profiles I claim Irish blood & a Welsh heart. The latter is possibly more relevant than the former. I’ve never lived in Ireland & the last time I set foot in my mother’s homeland (my father’s heritage is half Irish) I was a little girl. Wales on the other hand has been my home for decades. I live here from choice & I love it.
