How the Field Museum accelerated sustainability
If you’ve traveled to Chicago, you likely are familiar with the Field Museum, a grand building from 1893 filled with world-class artifacts and active research on one of the world’s top natural history collections.
Navy Pier Flyover delayed (again)
Warning: reading may bring one's face in contact with one's palm in a rapid and violent fashion. "The Navy Pier flyover, meant to connect Chicago’s north and south Lakefront trails, has hit another in a long string of delays that have pushed its completion to the end of 2019 at the earliest.
Shoaling...can someone explain the sociology?
'Shoaling' is not about "one cyclist compulsively moving to the front" at a signalized intersection. 'Shoaling' describes the whole complex interaction of many cyclists (with different riding styles -- very skilled and experienced, enthused but not super-skilled, beginner, first-timer, etc. -- and different kinds of bicycles -- cargo, trailers, tandems, BMX, road racers, folders, etc.) collecting/interacting at signalized intersections.

Is anyone interested in doing a short YouTube video on how to accurately make an identifiable notation of a CTA bus, run and driver?

Navy Pier Flyover for Bikers, Joggers Delayed (Again)
Those hoping to use the new flyover path near Navy Pier will now have to wait even longer than expected, and taxpayers could be on the hook for millions more on the perennially delayed project. On Monday, a spokesman for the Chicago Department of Transportation said the flyover is currently slated to open in 2020. After this report was published on Tuesday, CDOT spokesman Mike Claffey called and said city officials are aiming to complete the pathway by the end of 2019.
Dr. Frankenstein's Bicycle
There were a couple of these at last month's Critical Mass (March 2018). Quasi motorcycle jackets too! On one hand more people in the mass is good, but on the other hand aren't we supposed to be advocating for human powered transport and getting away from engine dependence? I could see if the engines were used more for additional power (like electric bike assist) but I don't think those dudes were pedaling at all. I wonder if I would feel the same way about an electric bicycle.
