A VC explains the difference between what they say and what they actually mean when talking about traction
I often hear founders say “Australian VCs are so conservative, they all want traction before they’ll invest! You have to go to the US!”. While the idea that you must go to the US for funding merits a longer write-up, let’s talk about VCs asking for traction. VCs, like most people, can be bad communicators. There’s also a real incentive for them to give you feedback that’s not too honest. If they’re too honest they risk upsetting you and hurting their reputation.

Apple’s hoping its $5000 computer headset, Vision Pro, will be the new iPhone, but will we all walk around wearing augmented reality googles?

Critics have doubted the appeal of the face-worn computer, which “seamlessly blends digital content with the physical world”, but Apple has pre-sold as many as 180,000 of the US$3,500 gizmos.
What does the snow bring us?
The cold has come to visit us for a few days, leaving shortly to give our animals a break so they can prepare for the season to come. It doesn't leave without reminding us of what the cold will bring, a clean slate of snow. My horses have fuzzed up, as have many of the cattle, and even the coyotes I've seen running across the moonlit land. The energy is different on snowy days, it's calm. The crunching of snow under feet is the loudest sound it seems.

After one and a half years there, Jessy is now an investment manager and head of community at AfterWork Ventures.
