Dressmaker: Burlap Challenge Guide
Typically, when someone opens Dressmaker, their main goal is to make pretty dresses. It's kind of in the name of the game after all. Sure, there's a fun story and quirky characters, but most players really thrive in making unique and interesting dress designs out of all of the gorgeous fabrics in stunning colors available to them. So what happens if you ignore all of those beautiful fabrics and try to make the most humble and basic fabric into profits?
Dressmaker: How To Unlock Off-The-Rack Dresses
Dressmaker is full of fun and interesting characters that request all kinds of dresses, from simple and sweet designs to stunning, complicated masterpieces in distinct colors and shapes. While these commissioned pieces can be fun to build, there's far more to the game than what your clients want. You can unlock off-the-rack dressmaking relatively quickly and let your imagination run wild with any color, pattern, and accessories your heart desires. What Are Off-the-Rack Dresses?
Pokemon TCG Live: Mew EX Deck Guide
Mew is one of the Pokemon franchise's most popular characters, standing tall alongside other legendary Pokemon to be a meaningful part of the story of the Pokemon world. The 30th anniversary expansion for Pokemon TCG Live offers players a chance to use Mew in new and exciting ways, in a deck built around its unique and interesting ability. The Mew EX deck was designed by the developers of Pokemon TCG Live and is formatted for standard play.
Pokemon TCG Live: Mega Chandelure EX Deck Guide
With the latest Pitch Black expansion of the Pokemon TCG Live, the Mega Chandelure EX deck has become available for players to explore in Pokemon TCG Live. While the standard version of the deck is interesting, variations using an older version of Chandelure as an alternate attacker and strategy supplement have become increasingly popular as a counter for major meta decks like Dragapult EX.
Pokemon TCG Live: The Strongest Cards In The 30th Anniversary Collection
The Pokemon Company International is currently celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokemon (established in 1996), and they've gone all out for the card collection. Released as a special set for the Pokemon TCG Live, the 30th anniversary collection includes 128 cards, some brand new and some reprints of favorites from throughout the years.
Best Dragapult ex Deck Build In Pokemon TCG Live
The most popular leading Pokemon in the current Pokemon TCG Live rotation list is Dragapult EX from the Twilight Masquerade expansion. It's gotten a somewhat infamous reputation as the deck you play if you're willing to do whatever it takes to win - and for good reason. Taking up a shocking roughly 50 percent of the roster for the world championships in 2026, this powerhouse of an attacker comes with a built-in draw engine, a ridiculously powerful attack, and a reasonable prize trade-off.
An Interview with the Developer of Shop Crush
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Bohdan Sydorenko, also known as @hollowlimb on social media. Based in Kyiv, Ukraine, with the indie game studio Bsl, this game designer is the lead on Shop Crush, a visual novel shop sim set for release later this year.
The Basics of Building a Competitive Deck in Pokemon TCG Live
The Pokémon trading card game is one of the simpler deck building games available to play — it's a straightforward turn-based game designed to be easy enough for children six and up to learn, but with enough complexity that adults can enjoy the game as well. Building a Pokémon deck itself is relatively easy on the surface, but there's a lot that goes into making a deck competitive within the modern gaming scene.
A Complete Beginner's Guide to Playing Pokémon TCG Live
The Pokémon trading card game (TCG) has been around since the mid-90s, and though it's changed quite a bit over the years, the basic idea is the same: you and another player battle head-t0-head to see who's the stronger trainer. Nowadays, we've got access to a worldwide community of players thanks to Pokémon TCG Live, a free app run by The Pokémon Company that lets you build decks and battle digitally.
Joining the Pokémon TCG Hobby Gets Much Easier with Pokémon TCG Live
I've been a casual Pokémon fan since I first caught a few episodes of the anime on Saturdays as a kid. I played through Diamond on a borrowed DS, Ruby Red on my own DS, and later fell in love with Legends: Arceus and Snap! on the Switch. Of course, most recently, Pokopia was released, and I once again fell utterly in love. This time around, however, I found myself interested in the physical trading card game for the first time since I watched friends play it in high school.

Reviewing Gamelab's R36S 3rd-Party Console
My family is, at the risk of surprising absolutely no one, obsessed with video games. My partner and I grew up with them, as did our roommate and best friend, and our kiddo has also grown to love the games he's been raised on (namely Minecraft, if we're being real).
Now Playing at SUPERJUMP: Issue 37
We're back with a brand new Now Playing! Indies and retro titles have dominated the holidays for our team to wrap up 2025. No matter what we're playing, we want to share with you and maybe send you down the path to try something new.
The Quest for a Cozy Gaming Setup
Cozy gaming, both as a genre and aesthetic, has exploded in popularity over the last few years, especially since the pandemic. I'm no stranger to this space; I've been a lover of cozy gaming since I started my obsession with Stardew Valley nearly a decade ago. It felt like a natural niche for me as a person with lots of cozy hobbies (reading, gardening, cat cuddling, crochet, knitting, etc.).
Pine Hearts and the Healing Power of Kindness
I had the pleasure of interviewing the developer of Pine Hearts two years ago, after playing and thoroughly enjoying the demo. I was excited to play the game, but as it does, life caught up with me, and I ended up delaying my playthrough until just now. I'm definitely sad that I didn't play this sooner! Pine Hearts is an adorable, heartwarming, and sometimes heartbreaking romp through a small English nature reserve full of fun, quirky characters and memories for our darling protagonist.
An Interview With the Developers of Winter Burrow
Recently, I reviewed Winter Burrow, an adorable yet deeply real, cozy survival game. Benjamin Salqvist, the CEO and Creative Director at Pine Heart Games, kindly agreed to chat with me about its development! Here's what he had to say. Winter Burrow is a 2D isometric survival game where we play as a mouse trying to survive the harsh winter. What inspired the story behind the game?
Rebuilding the Past in Winter Burrow
With the cold part of the year quickly closing in and the holidays coming up, there's really no better time, in my opinion, to curl up with a cozy game and get lost in a world that's a lot smaller than yours. In Winter Burrow, the latest release from Pine Creek Games, this idea is pretty literal - it's hard to get much smaller than a mouse's world.
Balatro’s Creator Won’t Ever Put It in Casinos - and He’s Right Not To
The smash hit Balatro, from Playstack and LocalThunk, is, at its heart, a poker-based game. It seems relatively benign and has become incredibly popular in recent years, with players rating it Overwhelmingly Positively in more than 100,000 reviews on Steam alone. But there's a sinister side to this beloved game that we're only just now beginning to understand. For now (and perhaps forever), this sinister undertone has been thwarted in an unexpected but surprisingly wholesome way.
Now Playing at SUPERJUMP, Issue 34
We're back with a brand new Now Playing. Since we last saw you, Gamescom brought some fresh game announcements, and excitement is rising for a busy fall for game releases. As everyone takes a breath before all that excitement, our team is playing their usual assortment of big titles and unique indies. No matter what we're playing, we want to share with you and maybe send you down the path to try something new.
The Nintendo Switch 2: A Fascinating Sequel
On April 2, 2025, Nintendo officially announced the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 console: June 5, 2025. During this announcement, they showed off a bunch of new features and gameplay advantages. But do these design improvements really hold up to scrutiny or are they simply not worth the price tag?
Soulsborne, Sweetness and Rolling Raiders: Good in Gaming Vol. 2
Good in Gaming This time in SUPERJUMP's dive into the world of positivity in the gaming community, Artemis Octavio explores the kindness of the Soulsborne community when one of their own faces a real-world boss fight.
2024 Dungeons & Dragons Character Building is So Much Better
Some time ago, I wrote a seven-part series dissecting the Dungeons and Dragons Fifth Edition character sheet, from race and class to skills and saves. I'd long held the idea that this sheet was overly complicated for new players and wanted to make sure that the game could remain as accessible as possible. In 2024, Wizards of the Coast re-released the core rule books of D&D with an overhaul for not just aesthetics, but mechanics and organization as well.
Good in Gaming: Understanding Mental Health, Using DLC for Good, and Saving Real Dogs
Good in Gaming Ask anyone whoâs been in the gaming community long enough, and theyâll tell you this space is about far more than just achievement hunting and esports scores. Gamers can be some of the most compassionate people in the world (though we might be a little biased to think so); they know exactly when and where to turn on multiplayer and work together to make the world a better place.

An Interview With the Creator of Cinnabunny, a New Cozy Bunny Baking Game
As someone who enjoys curling up with a cup of tea and a great low-stakes game, I'm no stranger to the cozy gaming community on various social media. I love seeing cute pastel setups on Instagram, gushing about the latest Stardew Valley update on Twitter, and of course, chatting about and troubleshooting various games in the genre on r/CozyGamers on Reddit.

An Interview with the Developers of Goblin Stone
I get a lot of press releases in my email - thank you devs and marketing teams! - and sometimes they catch my attention immediately. That was the case for Goblin Stone, a new turn-based RPG from Orc Chop Games.
The Importance of Style Guides: How to Make Yours Efficient & Impactful
The Importance of Style Guides: How to Make Yours Efficient & Impactful As a freelancer, I work with lots of different clients across multiple industries every day. This can make it a little difficult to remember the specifics of each client when I’m creating or editing a new piece. I end up with a lot of small, nit-picking questions. Does this client use the Oxford comma or are they the one that doesn’t? What company was I supposed to avoid mentioning again?
Cat Webling - SUPERJUMP
Blood Nova, from Cosmic Void, is a new game in an old style that feels both fresh and retro at the same time.
An Interview on the Upcoming Cozy Game Pine Hearts
I recently played through the demo for Pine Hearts, a cute little cozy puzzle platformer from Hyper Luminal Games. You play as a hiker re-exploring the trail he walked with his father as a child, solving puzzles, helping other campers and hikers, and collecting memories. It was short, sweet, and to the point while still being heartfelt and fun. The demo is available for free on Steam, so I highly recommend getting a taste of the mechanics and vibe before the full release.
Blast Your Way to Heroism With Wizordum
I am not good at FPS games. I never have been - my aim is bad and I tend to get frustrated by multiple deaths. I am, however, a massive fan of retro-style games with fantasy aspects, so when I was offered the chance to review Wizordum from Emberheart Games, I cautiously said yes. I'm so glad I did! I'm still not good at FPS games, but I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and style of Wizordum and will happily play it over and over again.
Now Playing at SUPERJUMP: Issue 9
We're back with another issue of Now Playing at SUPERJUMP! We've asked our global team of writers and editors to chime in with what they're currently playing, obsessing over, thinking about, and looking forward to in the coming weeks. Click each author's name to see their entire portfolio, and the links in the text will let you find out even more about them.
A Scary Good Time - Five Nights at Freddy's Movie Opening Day Review
💡 Note: In support of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the author elected to have this review held until the strike was resolved. She firmly believes that actors and crew for productions deserve fair working conditions and compensation. I am not a horror game kind of person. Don't get me wrong, I love a good story and psychological thriller, but jumpscares are something my heart just cannot handle.
Annual Thankmas Stream With Jacksepticeye Will Host Its First Live Audience in 2023
Opinion Gaming Youtuber and coffee entrepreneur Sean McLoughlin, best known as Jacksepticeye, continues his annual tradition of holding a holiday livestream to raise money for charity. This eight-hour livestream, lovingly dubbed Thankmas, has been a tradition for Sean and his community for five years. The point is to support important causes by live streaming, usually on YouTube and Twitch. Sean participates in the entire production, organizing and advertising it for weeks in advance.
Slay the Princess is a Spooky Narrative Masterpiece
Back in October of 2022, I had the pleasure of interviewing the creative minds behind Black Tabby Games about their newest endeavor, Slay the Princess, a narrative horror-comedy voiced by Jonny Sims and Nicole Goodnight which just released on October 23, 2023. I played the demo back when it was first released and fell absolutely in love with the game. Now with the full release, I'm happy to say that adoration has only increased.
Fun and Cozy Halloween Recommendations for Books, Movies, and Games
My favorite time of year is back again - Halloween!! I love the atmosphere around this time of year - ghouls and ghosts and skeletons and pumpkins and things that go bump in the night are all my jam. And with the world growing steadily colder and darker, now is the perfect time to take a breather, relax, and curl up with some cozy, spooky entertainment.
Leaping Through Neon Lights With Mr. Run and Jump
I am terrible at playing platforming games. I’ve never been very good at precise movement or well-timed jumps. When I was a child, I played my mother's DOS games (hello, Hocus Pocus, Cosmo, and Lode Runner) and often had to ask for help to complete levels. I don't think I have ever beaten a platforming game by myself. Still, I absolutely adore the aesthetics of these classic games.
What is a Cozy Video Game?
My favorite place to play video games is curled up in my bed, covers over my feet, my little grey tabby cat purring away in my lap. I can spend hours playing like this, exploring and making no progress but still having the best time. With the 2020s being...what they are, cozy gaming has taken off dramatically. So what exactly is this genre? And where can you start if you want to get into it? Grab your fuzziest socks and join me as I explain and point out a few of my favorites.
How to Charge For Your Freelance Writing Services Appropriately
A tricky part of setting up a freelance writing business is figuring out how to charge for the work you do - it's a job, so you have to get paid somehow, but it's not like you have a regular salary from one employer to fall back on. So how do you decide how you're going to charge, and how much you're going to charge? Here's what you need to know about pricing formats and going rates for freelance writers.
The Hands That Guide: A Tears of the Kingdom Review
I had my first proper Zelda franchise experience a few years ago with Breath of the Wild; it's the first game in the series that I finished and it had a profound impact on my views on environmental storytelling. So of course, I was both thrilled and anxious going into its sequel, Tears of the Kingdom. I watched every trailer as they were released, excitedly theorizing with my friends about what would be in the game and how we would get to play.
Interview With Realm Architect Creator Nils Philips
Realm Architect is a virtual tabletop (VTT) tool that just recently launched on Kickstarter (and was funded in less than 48 hours). This innovative program makes running a tabletop roleplaying game easier by allowing DMs to create Realms - interactive maps with nested specific location maps and pre-loaded character sheets, tokens, monsters, items, and more, all with a built-in notetaking system so that everything you need to run the game is at your fingertips within the program itself.
Dreams in the Witch House - A Review
We were recently offered a review copy of Dreams in the Witch House from Atomic Brain Games, and when I saw the first screenshot, I jumped at the opportunity to play. It looked like everything I love in a game: a spooky setting, creepy story, minimal jumpscares, and a retro art style. I absolutely got everything I wanted and more from this game. Though I have a couple of minor gripes, I’m more than happy to rave to you about this neat little indie gem. The Story Following H. P.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves Is a Brilliant Campaign on the Big Screen
I got really into playing Dungeons and Dragons about four years ago, and since then, it's become a major part of both my personal and professional life. If you're familiar with my work here at SUPERJUMP, you know that I write all about how to play the game. I've played a wide range of characters and even stepped up to the plate to DM, so you could say that this is one of my major passions. So, when a D&D movie was announced, I was excited but also concerned.
How and Why to Make a Business Plan as a Freelance Writer
By Cat Webling How to create your content with searchers in mind and help your work get seen using SEO best practices. I'm learning more and more that, despite being said too often by those offering advice, one aspect of freelancing is still very much true: a freelancer is running a business. In my case, that has...
Master of Orion II Is a Forgotten Marvel
I'm not usually a fan of strategy wargames, but I make an exception for one game and one game only. Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares has sucked me back in recently and rekindled my love of anything 80s-90s scifi. It surprises me that I don't see much conversation about the Master of Orion series, so I thought I'd show it a little long-deserved love.
The Story of Love: A Review of Blood Nova
I adore space, and I adore drama, so when the opportunity came to play a dramatic story of love and betrayal in space, I was immediately excited. When I booted up Blood Nova, a new game from Cosmic Void, to see a classic DOS-style splash screen, I was doubly thrilled, and the game definitely didn't disappoint. Retro Vibes With Modern Additions This game reminds me heavily of classic DOS games like the original Monkey Island and the Hero's Quest series.
The Dungeons And Dragons Movie Cast's Stats Are Confusing
Like many other nerds in the space, I've been cautiously optimistic in watching the promotional materials for the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Seeing that we're getting several familiar monsters, settings, and characters that are apparently playing by the book rules has been reassuring to our hopes that this movie will actually be quite fun. Of course, the thing that most people are curious about is the party composition.
Games to Play With Your Friends When You Don't Want to Think
My friends and I have a Discord server that we use to play D&D, watch movies, listen to music, post memes, and, more often than not, play video games. During the pandemic, that’s become more common than ever. Do I need to mention that the last few years have been tough? I think everyone knows that by now. I don’t think I need to explain why you'd want to play silly, low-stakes games with your friends. But I do know that sometimes, you don’t know where to start. What do you want to play?
