The Day's vision is for every young person to find their voice, making lessons out of news so that young people have the knowledge and confidence to think for themselves.
In line with this vision, I interviewed four leading journalists, asking what advice they would give their younger selves if they were starting out today, and how the industry can increasingly be used as a force for good in 2025.
Channel 4 News Presenter & Investigations Editor Cathy Newman said: "I've always been quite a dogged, determined person, I think that's really important so I would give that advice to my younger self, not to hold back, to fearlessly hold people to account."
Lewis Goodall, reporter and presenter for The News Agents and LBC, told me: "I don't think there has ever been a more important time to be in journalism or for there to be good passionate journalists who care about the world because the rules of the game have changed."
Asia Editor at The Times Richard Lloyd Parry explained how: "There is a greater and greater need for people who spend all their time, their working time, thinking about the news, reporting the news, going out reporting from the spot."
LBC reporter and presenter Henry Riley said: "It's never been more important in my view to have quality journalism because simply that's how we get to the truth, that's how we find out things, that's how we decide who we're going to vote for in elections, its how we inform ourselves."
