Chaim Steg was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio. He chose to obtain a B.F.A. in Art & Visual Studies from Georgian Court University and earn a living by doing what he loves. Constant travels throughout the world and the ever-present love for all forms of art sharpened his perception and consolidated his will of expressing himself as a visual artist.
His work is vivid and tends to reflect the joy that he finds in just being part of this world. Chaim loves working with the basics, primary color. He is working in mostly water and dry media: acrylic, watercolor, ink, color pencil and collage. His pieces are built, layer by layer, using brushwork, imprinting, lettering, knife work and pouring. Steg works on several pieces simultaneously. His pieces can be thought of as paintings upon paintings because he works each stage until he is satisfied with all aspects of it even though he knows it's rarely the final view. Creating pictures that are warm and inviting, Chaim believes that having a professional art training gives him the advantage to create mesmerizing art works. A curious mind, from a young age Chaim Steg always showed eagerness to learn and an affinity to the visual arts. His art portrays the texture and colors of the vivid world around us. You can easily distinguish his paintings due to my use of vibrant and dynamic colors, and contemporary realism style. By focusing on abstracted figures and landscape features, Chaim strives to illicit active viewership to forge a transcendent relationship between viewer and art work. His paintings are mostly made using acrylics, as its fast drying qualities give him the freedom to mix other mediums more easily.
