Gauri’s Pehchaan: Turning Education into Empowerment
Five years ago, in the narrow lanes of Indraprastha New Delhi, lived a small family in a crowded slum. Among them was a 15 year old girl named Gauri. She had never stepped outside her neighbourhood, and her own world was confined to its dusty streets and her tiny houses. In her surroundings hardly anyone had ever gone to school. Education was considered a luxury and not a necessity. Her parents however carried a different dream in their hearts.

Efficient Alpha Radiation Detector using Low Temperature Hydrothermally Grown ZnO:Ga Nanorod Scintillator
Abstract We report efficient detection of alpha radiation on highly textured and vertically aligned along (002) Gallium-doped Zinc Oxide (ZnO:Ga) nanorods on a glass substrate with an average diameter ~150 ± 10 nm. Photoluminescence measurement showed near band emission 393 nm, in agreement with the bandgap value ~3.22 eV, measured by UV-Vis spectroscopy.
