Relationship of cigarette smoking and hearing loss in workers exposed to occupational noise
Several factors are known to affect noise-induced hearing loss. These include age, working period, noise level, cardiovascular factors, and factors associated with blood viscosity. We analyzed the data considering these factors and determined that the hearing threshold was highest within the overall range of frequencies tested other than 1 kHz on pure tone audiometry in the current smoker group.

Environmental exposure to lead has been decreasing, as consumption of leaded gasoline has declined over the years [21]. However, lead is still present in household heating fuel and in anti-knock agents for automobiles. Cadmium is found in tobacco smoke, food, lubricating oil, and tires, and it is released into the atmosphere during the processes of combustion and wear and tear in tires.

FIS is known to have the characteristics of a low frequency noise. Low frequency noise (20–200 Hz) is common background noise in a city environment, typically generated by automobiles, airplanes, industry machinery, air conditioners, FIS, etc. and has a lower effect for noise reduction through the wearing of a hearing protection device or a wall, compared to other types of noise.
Effect of shift work on hypertension: cross sectional study
This study compared the prevalence rate of hypertension between day workers and shift workers on a four-crew three-shift system at a petrochemical plant in South Korea. There are two main results. First, the prevalence of hypertension showed an increasing tendency with shift work duration. Second, workers engaged with shift work more than 20 years had a significant risk for hypertension.
The association between cadmium and lead exposure and blood pressure among workers of a smelting industry: a cross-sectional study
Studies on the effects of heavy metal exposure on health have been conducted to date. In particular, humans are easily exposed to lead and cadmium that are present not only in the environment, but also in the workplace. Our study aimed to identify the association between heavy metal exposure and blood pressure elevation in workers who were occupationally exposed to lead and cadmium. We studied 310 workers who were occupationally exposed to lead and cadmium.
Relationship of Transportation Noise and Annoyance for Two Metropolitan Cities in Korea: Population Based Study
Transportation noise is known to have negative impact on both public health and life quality. This study evaluated the relationship between transportation noise and annoyance levels, and also the difference of annoyance levels in two metropolitan cities based on epidemiologic surveys. Two thousand adult subjects living in Seoul and Ulsan were enrolled by stratified random sampling on the basis of noise maps from July 2015 to January 2016.
