Transcribing a 45 minute interview without a transcription software :)
Have you ever used a typewriter?
No, but it's definitely on my bucket list alongside seeing the northern lights and meeting Beyonce.
How is social media changing news?
With the advancement of social media and now tech like AI, media literacy is at an all time low. No one know's what's true
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Gale Weathers.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
CISION, Google Analytics, Yoast SEO, iMovie/Final Cut, Wireless Mics, Canon EOS, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Slack, Canva, and Photoshop.
What's your favorite social network?
Pinterest. It's like Instagram without the insufferable ad's and annoying DM's. Pinterest is my happy place.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've always been a good writer. An old friend connected me with an editor back in 2017 and the rest is history.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No high school newspaper. We didn't have the budget for that but we did have a budget for a Pickleball team (???) that never won any games.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
In November 2023, I interviewed one of my favorite artists ever: Maeta. She loved my questions and told me how comfortable I made her feel.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Be yourself. Don't try to emulate what every one around you is doing. Focus on your strengths and nurture them. Spell check is your friend.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In bed, rubbing my feet together, catching up on my shows. Currently losing my mind over the newest season of Netflix's Love Is Blind.
