Who Wins? The Electric Car (Made in China)
Trump's tit for tat response weaponizing access to the Gulf garners no moral authority, and while it hurts Iran in the short term it further alienates Europe and Asia from the US In the ongoing conflict in the Persian Gulf between the US and Iran, and Israel with Palestine and Lebanon, it is easy to conclude all sides have lost. This is indeed the case, but what, is the question, and it is far from over.
“Never Again” Never Meant “It’s Our Turn”
Omer Bartov’s recent op-ed in The New York Times, “I’m a Genocide Scholar. I know it when I see it.” is enlightening but limited in scope. Bartov spent the first half of his life in Israel and served in the IDF before becoming a professor of history and internationally recognized scholar of Genocide and the Jewish Holocaust.
Not the Time to Vote Third Party
Okay, I get it. Anyone with a heart and half a brain abhors the Biden/Harris administration’s support for ongoing war crimes in Israel/Palestine, rightly judged by the ICC and the ICJ to be genocide, now expanding into Lebanon and Iran. The death toll in Gaza rolls on unrelenting due to the endless supply of U.S. weapons, while our leaders hide behind Netanyahu’s inhumane fascist rhetoric to justify their, and his, actions. What could be worse than that?
The Necessity for a Functional Redefinition of Success
By Charles Fredricks Setting aside the sociological implications of identifying as human for a moment (though it is my primary contention one cannot successfully do so), while we all may profess adherence to various other values, global cultures measure success in terms of finance.
The Need for a Functional Definition of ‘Success’
Setting aside sociological implications of identifying as a human being first for the moment (though it is my primary contention one cannot be successful and do so), we can see that while various portions of humanity profess adherence to other values, as a global culture we measure success in terms of finance.
“I Started River Point Technology with No Business Experience at All,” Says the Entrepreneur and Business Veteran, Jeff Eiben
There are people who make walls of excuses around themselves when it comes to achieving something, and then don’t dare to breach it even though they’re pushed to do so. But there are also those who not only destroy these walls but also overcome all other obstacles and fight calamities along their way to achieve what they desire. They are not afraid of trying and challenging their limitations, but rather, chasing their dreams is what provides them the thrill of life.
3 Important Factors behind the Success of Rahul Maharaj, A Preacher of Positivity
Success is not born out of nowhere. You need a blend of different things to get yourself going and reach your coveted destination in any aspect of life. One of these vital things is an unflinching determination that holds you firm no matter how turbulent the air becomes. However, one cannot be expected to solely surmount all the challenges on their own. The external support is crucial because determination can lead you only so far – once it starts waning, there’s hardly any going back.
Will Hegemonic Competition Be the Death of Us?
While I definitely am pro small "d" democracy, as a lay scientist I recognize the rights human beings conspire to grant to each other are subservient to those nature grants to human beings: i.e., the world don’t owe us a livin.’ The words ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ sound as inspiring today as they did when articulated by the founding fathers to inspire a revolution 250 years ago, but as we currently see they are not immune from distortion, even setting aside the hypocrisy of these words...
What I Learned About Governments by Reading Classified Documents
Donald Trump’s illegal retention of classified U.S. government records reminded me that I have been reading these kinds of sensitive official files after their declassification―and learning from them―for decades. The reason is that I am a scholar of international history and, in this connection, have drawn upon such material in my research. Governments keep secrets, and to understand the full story of their behavior, it is often necessary to dig into the documentary evidence.
How Corporations Are Using Inflation to Take Your Money
Inflation is a cover corporations are using to squeeze more money out of you. But as I’ll explain, there are five things we can do to fight back. Corporations are using inflation as an excuse to raise their prices, hurting workers and consumers while they enjoy record profits. Prices are surging – but let’s be clear: corporations are not raising prices simply because of the increasing costs of supplies and labor.

Together we rise," reads the motto on a wall of the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The school serves about 600 students in the second thru fourth grades. Over ninety percent are Latinx. Nineteen children between the ages of nine and eleven and two of their teachers were murdered there Tuesday, by an 18-year-old gunman armed with a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle. The shooter, Salvador Ramos, was killed at the school by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

America's Cult of Selfishness
I couldn't help a double-take when the rusty old truck passed me on a western Kentucky highway. Painted on the side of its faded greenish hood was a bright red circle bisected by a similarly-hued diagonal bar that was superimposed over a white hypodermic needle. Below the hand-painted “artwork” were the letters “F.T.M.,” which I took to mean “F*** the Mandate.” "FREEDOM" was also hand-painted in white letters on the hood.
Toward a Survivable Identity
Humanity is currently constituted in collectives as states. A state purports to define itself by adherence to a set of values, but ultimately it is defined by its territorial borders in relation to other states, and the power it can exert through networks of influence to secure resources. Another way a large portion of humanity defines itself in relation to the cosmos is through religion. Every major religion defines itself not by physical territory but by ideology.
The Two Faces of Felicia Williams
Felicia Williams pulled a fast one on her supporters soon after she was elected to the Pasadena City Council in 2020. In 2019, when she filed to run for the District 2 seat, she was a registered Democrat. During her campaign, she vigorously sought – and obtained – endorsements by the major Democratic organizations, including the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, Arroyo Democratic Club, and Democrats of the Pasadena Foothills as well as ACT, the liberal civic group.

Covid Continues to Kill
Nothing shows the abject failure of the Joe Biden and Kamala Harris administration like the continuing toll of covid-19 deaths in this country. A pledge to end the covid pandemic was a centerpiece of their 2020 campaign. They promised to improve upon Donald Trump’s disastrous handling of the crisis which resulted in the deaths of 385,000 people in 2020. Biden and Harris had 446,000 covid deaths as of their first anniversary in office.
Amongst all the media bombast covering the current crisis hailing Zelensky and the Ukrainians bravery, we don’t hear much conversation about Ukraine’s substantial oil & gas reserves discovered in 2012, that they’ve been unable to develop because of the annexation of Crimea and the conflict since. Or how Ukraine’s exploiting this resource would cut into the 54% of export revenues Russia derives from oil & gas exports, chiefly to Europe.

Everything to know about celebrity cheek surgery
Buccal fat removal Toronto a cosmetic surgery technique has become one of the most popular facial cosmetic operations in recent years, thanks in part to celebrities thought to have undergone the procedure. The premise is straightforward: by removing fat pads in the mid-cheek area (known as buccal fat pads), you can expose a thinner, more contoured face. Consider Bella Hadid, whose image is frequently seen as an inspiration for the aesthetic.
Hawai'i Citizen Groups Wary of US Military’s Sudden Decision to Drain and Permanently Close Leaking Red Hill Jet Fuel Tanks Original
After stalling for decades in addressing the dangers of the massive Red Hill jet fuel storage facility in Honolulu, in a surprising move on March 7, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin ordered the leaking 80-year-old jet fuel tanks to be drained of their 180 million gallons of jet fuel and the facility permanently closed.
Must We? Not Again.
There is a way out of the Ukraine mess, but it involves (another) mea culpa “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.
AUKUS: Empire & Decline-or Survival?
“If you wash your hair regularly, you’ll always lose a few hairs. If you don’t wash your hair regularly you’ll lose all of them.” Such was Confucius’ advice the rulers of his day, in justifying the state’s use of violence to keep its citizenry in line; likely flavored by the fact he sought to be in their employ.
There Is Another Way for Israel-Palestine
Last Saturday I attended the demonstration in front of the Federal Building in Westwood, in Los Angeles, to show support for Palestinians once again under Israeli fire, and hand out invitations to join in the next IPC (Israeli-Palestinian Confederation, IPconfederation.org) simulation, and urge them to watch the film SURVIVING PEACE on the internet.
For a New Memorandum: Employ the Mechanics of Social Change
Photo by christian buehner on Unsplash “Which way were they going? How many were they? I must find them, I’m their leader!” That many are happily surprised by Biden turning out to be more radical than expected given his former record, is quickly matched by those who hasten to point out the shortcomings of his policies, in order to conclude he’s no radical.
Left Play a Major Role in Today's Mass Hysteria
Illustration by Taylor Jones on Cagle Cartoons. “Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” – Martin Luther King Jr. If polls are to be believed even after recent events it is likely a large percentage of the country, perhaps four out of ten fellow citizens, that still believe in the righteousness of the cause of the greatest con man ever to hold high office.
Will Whiteness Cause the Death of Us?
Photo by Frank Busch on Unsplash That any given culture assigns significance to something does not necessarily make it so. Shared delusions that arise in response to a given need may seem beneficial or at least harmless for a long period of time, but eventually any lies or misapprehensions of reality come back to bite us, hindering our development and even our survival. The Nordic settlers who first colonized Greenland, for instance, held the popular religious belief that fish were demonic.
Race, Class: Facets of the Same Psychosis
As a former core organizer of the Los Angeles chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), I was dismayed to read that the New York chapter of DSA cancelled a talk by Adolph Reed, concerned that his inclusion of class analysis would dilute the ability to seize the present moment and overturn systemic racism. The faction within DSA that scuttled his appearance phrased their opposition, “We cannot be afraid to discuss race and racism because it could get mishandled by racists.
Elect, Then Push
“Make me do it.” That’s what FDR said to the progressives of his era when they met with their list of demands. With strikes and demonstrations, and looming fascism waiting in the wings, they did— and he did. We have watched the slow motion train wreck that is Donald Trump’s destruction of our democracy in action for almost four years now. Granted, the nation has been on a downward slide toward fascism my entire life. I say that as I’m poised to cross my seventh decade.
Say Goodbye to the Boys’ Club
It’s the little things… defenders of an unjust status quo never see coming. According to legend, Goliath was felled by an otherwise unremarkable stone sent by a twenty-two year old a fraction his size. George Floyd’s life counted as nothing to Officer Chauvin. Just another black man, in a line stretching back centuries, deprived of his life under color of law.
Dust in the Air…To End Racism, Eradicate the Delusion of Difference
Dust in the Air… “Racism in America is like dust in the air. It seems invisible – even if you’re choking on it – until you let the sun in. Then you see it’s everywhere… As long as we keep shining that light, we have a chance of cleaning it wherever it lands. But we have to stay vigilant, because it’s always still in the air.” — Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Racism is not an illusion but a self-delusion, adopted to justify economic exploitation. It was an innovation in that regard.
