Erin Gemmell Becomes No. 2 All-Time American 13-year-old in 200 Free
Erin Gemmell, daughter of coach Bruce Gemmell (Katie Ledecky’s former coach), swam a 2:00.70 to win finals of the women’s 200 free at the 2018 Speedo Junior Nationals. Gemmell, 13, is now the second-fastest 13-year-old in US history, passing Sippy Woodhead (2:01.08). She just touched out 17-year-old Texas commit Miranda Heckman (2:00.77) Friday night, splitting 27.82 on the 1st 50, then going 30.31, 31.30, and 31.51 on the 2nd, 3rd, and final 50s.
Erin Gemmell Swims 2nd Fastest 13 Year Old 200 Free In US History
Erin Gemmell, daughter of Bruce Gemmell swam a 2:01.50 to qualify 3rd in prelims of the women’s 200 free at Speedo Junior Nationals. Gemmell, who is 13, is now the 2nd fastest 13 year old in US history, behind only Claire Tuggle, who swam a 1:59.11 earlier this year, and qualified 2nd this morning with a 2:01.44. Gemmell swam a tight race, splitting 28.15 on the 1st 50, then following it up with splits of 31.32, 31.13, and 30.90 respectively.
Natalie Coughlin Aquatics Center Coming Early 2018
12-time Olympic medalist Natalie Coughlin‘s alma mater, Carondelet High School, is naming its new aquatics center after the 2000 graduate. The all-girls school launched a campaign to raise $38 million to fund the creation of its new six acre, 6,000-foot athletic complex (as well as its STEM Innovation Center and a scholarship program), located 2.5 miles from Carondelet’s Concord, CA, campus.
Eve And Candace Interview The Stars On The Golden Goggles Red Carpet
Eve and Candace, the “World’s Foremost Unknown Swim Vloggers”, traveled out to Los Angeles last weekend for the 2015 Golden Goggle Award Show. While at the show, Eve and Candace stood along the Red Carpet, interviewing the biggest swim stars along the way! “Having the opportunity to cover the red carpet at Golden Goggles is one of our highlights of the year. Everyone looked fantastic and the carpet was busy! Anders Holm hosting should be from now in perpetuity and Andra Day‘s set was fantastic!”
