Unexpectedly Superior Efficiency of Chloride-directed Double Suzuki-Miyaura Cross-coupling Reaction to That of Bromide for the Synthesis of Sterically Hindered 2,7-Diaryl Fluorenes
Unexpectedly Superior Efficiency of Chloride-directed Double Suzuki-Miyaura Cross-coupling Reaction to That of Bromide for the Synthesis of Sterically Hindered 2,7-Diaryl Fluorenes Sterically hindered 2,7-diaryl fluorenes have been efficiently synthesized via double Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions of challenging 2,7-dichlorofluorene with a broad scope of di-ortho-substituted arylboronic acids using a N-heterocyclic carbene Pd catalyst INPd. The efficiency of chloride-directed...
Cascaded elasto-inertial separation of malignant tumor cells from untreated malignant pleural and peritoneal effusions
Cascaded elasto-inertial separation of malignant tumor cells from untreated malignant pleural and peritoneal effusions† Separation of malignant tumor cells (MTCs) from large background cells in untreated malignant pleural and peritoneal effusions (MPPEs) is critical for improving the sensitivity and efficiency of cytological diagnosis.

High-throughput adjustable deformability cytometry utilizing elasto-inertial focusing and virtual fluidic channel
High-throughput adjustable deformability cytometry utilizing elasto-inertial focusing and virtual fluidic channel† Cell mechanical properties provide a label-free marker for indicating cell states and disease processes. Although microfluidic deformability cytometry has demonstrated great potential and successes in mechanical phenotyping in recent years, its universal applicability for characterizing multiple sizes of cells using a single device has not been realized.

Transgelin promotes lung cancer progression via activation of cancer-associated fibroblasts with enhanced IL-6 release - Oncogenesis
Abstract Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), the principal constituent of the heterogenous tumor microenvironment, have been shown to promote tumor progression; however, the underlying mechanism is still less clear. Here, we find that transgelin (TAGLN) protein levels increased in primary CAFs isolated from human lung cancer, compared with those in paired normal fibroblasts.
Author Correction: ZIP1+ fibroblasts protect lung cancer against chemotherapy via connexin-43 mediated intercellular Zn2+ transfer - Nature Communications
Correction to: Nature Communications https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-022-33521-4, published online 07 October 2022 The original Article contained an error in the Results section “ZIP1+ fibroblasts are enriched in mouse lung cancer after chemotherapy”. The third sentence of this paragraph incorrectly read “Lewis lung carcinoma (LLC) cells with ubiquitous enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) expression were subcutaneously transplanted into C57BL/6 mice.” in the original text.

The Effective Treatment of Purpurin on Inflammation and Adjuvant-Induced Arthritis
Abstract : Rubia cordifolia L. (Rubiaceae), one of the traditional anti-rheumatic herbal medicines in China, has been used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA) since ancient times. Purpurin, an active compound of Rubia cordifolia L., has been identified in previous studies and exerts antibacterial, antigenotoxic, anticancer, and antioxidant effects. However, the efficacy and the underlying mechanism of purpurin to alleviate RA are unclear.
ZIP1+ fibroblasts protect lung cancer against chemotherapy via connexin-43 mediated intercellular Zn2+ transfer - Nature Communications
Abstract Tumour–stroma cell interactions impact cancer progression and therapy responses. Intercellular communication between fibroblasts and cancer cells using various soluble mediators has often been reported. In this study, we find that a zinc-transporter (ZIP1) positive tumour-associated fibroblast subset is enriched after chemotherapy and directly interconnects lung cancer cells with gap junctions.
New Tennessee and Alabama Laws Restrict Employer COVID-19 Vaccination Mandates | JD Supra
Tennessee and Alabama recently enacted legislation that impacts employers’ ability to require employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19. On Nov. 12, 2021, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed legislation that prohibits many employers in the state from requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination from employees, job applicants and customers. The prior week, on Nov. 5, Alabama Gov.

Accelerated tumor metastasis due to IFNγ receptor-mediated dissociation of perivascular cells from blood vessels
Angiostasis mediated by IFN? is a key mechanism of anti-tumor immunity; however, the effect of IFN? on host VEGFA-expressing cells during tumor progression is still elusive. Here, we developed transgenic mice with IFN? receptor (IFN?R) expression under control of the Vegfa promoter (V-?R). In these mice, the IFN? responsiveness of VEGFA -expressing cells led to a dramatic growth suppression of transplanted lung carcinoma cells.
