1 Introduction Fatigue failure originates from the progressive accumulation of deformation-induced defects during cyclic loading and remains one of the most pervasive limitations to the reliability of structural metals [1-3]. Although cyclic plasticity is often accommodated through the generation and multiplication of dislocations, the resulting defect accumulation promotes strain localization, persistent slip band formation, and ultimately fatigue failure [4-8].
