Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, many times, it's what we used in elementary and middle school. There were only so many computers available at that time. I miss them!
How is social media changing news?
Social media is changing news by making it more accessible and more readily available, but the foundations will always stay the same.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To be a journalist means that you've been given an opportunity to tell stories of those whose voice would most likely never be heard.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
A creative person always needs the following: a computer, preferably a Mac, a pen, paper, a phone, a good camera, and battery chargers.
Why did you become a journalist?
I kind of just stumbled into this profession by accident, I never thought I would ever write articles or even be published.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I'm most proud of my series involving students who were impacted by Hurricane Florence in 2018 in Duplin County, North Carolina.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Follow your heart and believe in yourself.

Sometimes people fail to understand the time, work, and research that goes into writing, marketing, and public relations.
