Definitely. I'd love to get one again someday to write bad poetry on.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
I'm not a big Superman fan, but 90s cartoon Clark Kent inspired my look when I first became a journalist.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
All you need is a working internet and an open blank document.
What's your favorite social network?
Bluesky is growing on me, to be fair. But, Facebook makes keeping contact with people easier than any.
Why did you become a journalist?
I write words good, or at least good enough to be entertaining and coherent.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I did! I was a writer during a couple different years of high school. It's how I learned to edit myself.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write in your voice. I want to be able to imagine hearing you personally tell me this story, verbally. Otherwise, it's just an essay.
When's the best time to pitch you?
Midday is the best time to catch me, but I always have my phone on me. So, if I see the notification, I'm likely to be around.
What's your favorite drink?
Sweet Tea. Like, super sweet. Southern sweet.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing a mobile game. I love gacha games.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
Lion's Roar. Their articles on meditation and how to handle stress are some great ways to learn.
