Chet Lowe’s journey began in the Bahamas, where he was born into a Christian home. His parents lived their faith sincerely, and their example left a lasting impression on him. At just seven years old, Chet felt a sense of calling and organized his first Vacation Bible School in his family’s garage. That early effort, simple as it was, started a lifelong path of service and dedication to the Gospel.
His upbringing played a significant role in shaping his values. Chet’s parents, Ira and Pam Lowe showed what it meant to care for people and serve God. Their love for others and the close bond he shared with his siblings, Susan and Matthew, laid a strong foundation for his future in ministry.
Chet’s desire to serve others extended beyond his community early on. By thirteen, he had already taken part in mission work. A trip to South Korea allowed him to help build a church, and a year later, he was in Liberia helping to create a school. These experiences confirmed the direction in which he believed God was leading him—serving wherever and whenever he was called.
In 1994, Chet married Andrea. The following year, they moved to Liberia during a violent civil war, bringing their newborn with them. Life there was extremely difficult, but their decision to go was rooted in a deep sense of purpose. They were committed to helping people in desperate need.
While in Liberia, they helped build 17 churches and founded Joseph’s Brethren, a ministry focused on rescuing children caught in the violence. More than 1,500 children, many of them former child soldiers, were brought into safety. These children were allowed to experience healing and hope through foster care and rehabilitation centers. During those years, Chet and Andrea’s family included five biological children. In addition, they welcomed four more children into their home through adoption and mentorship, offering stability to young lives in need of love and guidance.
When the Lowes returned to the United States, Chet began serving at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, where he had been a long-time member. Over the years, he led a range of ministries, focusing on couples, singles, parents, foster care, and missions. He also earned a Master’s in Christian Counseling to deepen his understanding and better support people through difficult seasons. Ministry for Chet was never just about teaching—walking with people, listening, and showing up when it mattered.
In 2005, Chet founded Patmos: Reality Discipleship, a ministry for young adults that grew across several countries, including the United States, Brazil, the Bahamas, and El Salvador. The program focused on personal growth and spiritual development. One of the individuals he mentored through this became like a son to him, expanding Chet’s view of what family could be.
In 2011, Chet experienced profound personal loss. His younger brother, a Navy Lieutenant, died in a plane crash. Not long after, his father and uncle also passed away. These years of grief tested him deeply. Still, rather than stepping back, Chet continued to serve, teach, and support others through their struggles.
A few years later, in 2015, he and his family moved to Southern California. He took on the lead pastor role at Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo. He focused on strengthening and guiding the church community through seasons of change. In 2021, he was invited to lead Calvary Chapel South Bay after its long-time pastor stepped down. Under his leadership, the church became Calvary LIFE, a ministry focused on four guiding principles: learning the Word, investing in relationships, following Christ, and engaging the world.
Today, Pastor Chet Lowe lives with Andrea and their children in San Pedro, California. Together, they continue leading Calvary LIFE and remain committed to serving locally and globally. Outreach efforts include feeding the homeless, supporting those affected by human trafficking, and community service programs. Internationally, the church supports missions in over 30 countries.
Chet continues to provide counseling and spiritual guidance to many. He and Andrea remain deeply involved in foster care and adoption, staying true to their calling to care for those in need. As 2025 marks several milestones—30 years since their mission to Liberia, 45 years of Calvary LIFE, 20 years of Patmos, and a decade since the release of his book—it’s clear that Chet’s focus is not on milestones themselves but on what lies ahead.
His story is one of steady faith and quiet courage. He continues to say yes—to God, people, and the next opportunity to serve.
