Seismo-ripples | npj Natural Hazards
Abstract Earthquake prediction has long been considered one of the greatest challenges in the global scientific community due to the complex and uncertain nature of seismogenic processes, along with the prevailing consensus that earthquakes are inherently unpredictable. Here, we present a novel and potentially transformative concept—seismo-ripples—resonance signals consistently observed in seismic, magnetic, and ionospheric data prior to major earthquakes.

An Interpretable Machine Learning Procedure Which Unravels Hidden Interplanetary Drivers of the Low Latitude Dayside Magnetopause
4 Models Training and Performance For computing the SHAP values of the elements in the magnetopause crossings database, a gradient boosted tree-based model, utilizing XGBRegressor is trained. The tree-based model is an implementation of ensemble learning, which is composed of a series of gradient boosted trees. To train the model, the whole database was randomly split into a 90% training set and a 10% validation set.
