“We hold these truths to be self-evident…” Two hundred and fifty years into the American experiment, many people are questioning whether or not this statement remains true. A recent Associated Press headline reads: “Most Americans think founders would be disappointed in today’s U.S.” Another from the National News Desk: “Polls show generational divide on patriotism as debate over civic education intensifies.” The nation requires something that can unify its people.

Chris Averill: Let July 4th unify Montanans Original
“We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” These are lofty words, aspirational indeed. They form what historian Gordon S. Wood has called “the single most powerful and radical ideological force in all of American history.” On Thursday, Americans celebrated Independence Day, likely with cookouts, parades, and fireworks. Nuggets From Helena: Savor history, and great cuisine, at two restored Westside gems
On snowy winter days, guests are greeted with the warmth of a fire pit on the porch of the Oddfellow Inn, setting the tone for a cozy evening of exceptional French dining. DONNIE SEXTON CHRIS AVERILL History is present in so many aspects of life across Helena. And thanks to the work of several local business owners, two restaurants that lie on the outskirts of the city limits transport diners back in time to a sophisticated era of enjoyment.
Companies should embrace change, not fear it
Let’s face it, for most change is daunting. It’s human nature to revert to your comfort zone. Unfortunately, in today’s digital world, change is the acceptable norm. A recent survey found that 68 percent of marketers feel their role has changed more in the last two years than the previous 50!
