Blog: Modernizing Payments with a Unified Transaction Layer
As financial institutions accelerate their digital transformation efforts, payments modernization has become a top priority. The challenge is not just enabling new capabilities, but doing so while maintaining the reliability, security and consistency expected across every channel. In a recent conversation with Global Business and Finance Review, I shared my perspective on how banks can simplify payments architecture while continuing to innovate.
Bridging the Gap: From Slowdown to Recovery
After several years of constrained housing turnover and cautious consumer spending, the residential window and door market enters 2026 with mixed signals. The industry is no longer dealing with the acute supply shocks of the early 2020s, but demand remains highly sensitive to affordability, financing costs, and the “lock-in” effect that continues to suppress existing-home transactions.
Curt Cignetti refutes report he’s pushing for Indiana to hire Mark Byington for men’s basketball
Back to the Indiana Hoosiers Newsfeed Related Topics: Mark Byington, Curt Cignetti, Indiana, Chris Beard As if the Indiana men’s basketball coaching search hasn’t already gotten weird enough with an early denial of candidacy from Brad Stevens, somehow Curt Cignetti managed to get dragged into it. Cignetti, who previously coached at James Madison, was reported by to have been pushing the athletic department to look at or hire Mark Byington of Vanderbilt, per Adam Zagoria.
Unlocking Remodeling Growth
The Bottom Line: Entering 2024, high inflation and tempered Fed rate cut expectations have led to uncertainty in big-ticket remodeling despite underlying fundamentals for growth, such as an aging housing stock and rising household wealth, with many in the industry believing a rebound may not occur until consumer confidence improves and financing costs ease. Coming into 2024, all eyes were on the Fed, which, at the end of 2023, had penciled in three rate cuts for 2024.
Windows of Opportunity in 2024
Expect year-over-year volume and dollar growth for the residential fenestration industry in 2024, thanks to a rise in single-family starts, aging housing stock leading to remodeling, and a large intergenerational wealth transfer. After more than three years of high demand and long backlogs for residential window and door products, the fenestration industry caught a breather to end 2023.
Backlogs Ease, but a Potential Demand Surge May Be Coming
Widespread supply chain issues in materials and transportation affected many industries, including housing. Factors such as raw material shortages in everything from aluminum to zinc caused delays and extended lead times across many product categories. The housing market experienced a surge in demand. Home improvement projects soared, straining supply chains and extending backlogs, becoming especially evident in the window and door industry.

My Next Chapter - The Mozilla Blog
Earlier this morning I shared the news internally that – while I’ve been a Mozillian for 15 years so far, and plan to be for many more years – this will be my last year as CEO. When I returned to Mozilla just over five years ago, it was during a particularly tumultuous time in our history. Looking back it’s amazing to reflect on how far we’ve come, and I am so incredibly proud of all that our teams have accomplished over the years.
The web the world needs can be ours again, if we want it – The Mozilla Blog
People everywhere are demanding basic consumer protections. We want our food to be healthy to eat, our water to be clean to drink, and our air to be safe to breathe. This year people have started to demand more of the internet as well, however, there persists an expectation that on the internet people are responsible for protecting themselves. You should not have to worry about trading privacy and control in order to enjoy the technology you love.
Goodbye, EdgeHTML – The Mozilla Blog
Microsoft is officially giving up on an independent shared platform for the internet. By adopting Chromium, Microsoft hands over control of even more of online life to Google. This may sound melodramatic, but it’s not. The “browser engines” — Chromium from Google and Gecko Quantum from Mozilla — are “inside baseball” pieces of software that actually determine a great deal of what each of us can do online.
Matadors (Texas Tech Alumni)
"Joining old and new! This group of players span across some of the most successful runs in Texas Tech Basketball history. This year's Matadors squad includes Ronald Ross from the 2004-2005 Sweet 16 run, and Justin Gray and Niem Stevenson's from this year's Elite 8 team. One reason why these guys achieved so much success?

US Immigration Ban
The immigration ban imposed by Friday’s executive order is overly broad and its implementation is highly disruptive to fostering a culture of innovation and economic growth. By slamming the door on talented immigrants –including those already legally in the United States and those seeking to enter – the ban will create a barrier to innovation, economic development and global impact.

UNLV hires Marvin Menzies as basketball coach after Chris Beard bolts
LAS VEGAS – UNLV moved swiftly to hire a basketball coach after Chris Beard’s sudden exit, agreeing with New Mexico State’s Marvin Menzies on a five-year contract Saturday. A former UNLV assistant, Menzies was one of the final candidates to replace Dave Rice, who was fired in January. Menzies’ contract must still be approved by UNLV’s board of regents.
Stacey Augmon ‘disappointed’ he didn’t get UNLV head coaching job, won’t be retained by Chris Beard
Stacey Augmon was disappointed and saddened with how things ended, how his time as a UNLV assistant basketball coach concluded. He had hoped for much more. He had hoped to be named head coach of the program that he helped win a national championship in 1990. Instead, he will be leaving the university. The former UNLV All-American, who has been an assistant coach for the past five seasons, was not retained on new coach Chris Beard’s staff.

Safeguarding Choice and Control Online
We are calling on Microsoft to “undo” its aggressive move to override user choice on Windows 10 Mozilla exists to bring choice, control and opportunity to everyone on the Web. We build Firefox and our other products for this reason. We build Mozilla as a non-profit organization for this reason. And we work to make the Internet experience beyond our products represent these values as much as we can. Sometimes we see great progress, where consumer products respect individuals and their choices.
An Open Letter to Microsoft’s CEO: Don’t Roll Back the Clock on Choice and Control – The Mozilla Blog
Satya, I am writing to you about a very disturbing aspect of Windows 10. Specifically, that the update experience appears to have been designed to throw away the choice your customers have made about the Internet experience they want, and replace it with the Internet experience Microsoft wants them to have.
Homeless and have job out of state waiting for me
I was laid off before the winter, and have survived homeless through the winter only to lose everything that mattered to me. I am a minimalist, but I need new clothes for a job cooking in a nice restaurant. I have cooked professionally for 13 years, and a published writer/photographer. I'm asking for 500 because it is the minimum amount I can ask for on this site. I have travel expenses, clothing, and a few odds and ends to cover before I can begin my new job.
Moving Forward with Firefox
Next month, Johnathan Nightingale will step down as a full time Mozillian after 8 years of distinguished service. We’d like to thank him for his countless contributions to the Mozilla project and leading Firefox through periods of intense competition and change. In the last year Firefox turned a corner. We achieved positive growth again and dramatically reset our global search strategy – and we now have a much stronger foundation from which to build, grow and pursue our mission.
New Search Strategy for Firefox: Promoting Choice & Innovation – The Mozilla Blog
Ten years ago, we built Firefox to keep the Internet in each of our hands — to create choice and put people in control of their lives online. Our focus has been on building products that drive the competition, energy and innovation we all need to keep the Web open, everywhere and independent. And last week, we pledged to do more. Search is a core part of the online experience for everyone — Firefox users alone search the Web more than 100 billion times per year.
Celebrating Choice, Control and Independence On the Web
Ten years ago, we made Firefox to keep the Internet in each of our hands — to create choice and put you in control of your life online. Today, we invite you to stand with us for an Internet that belongs to everyone. And no one. Birthdays are a time to reflect on past accomplishments. And ours – yours – was huge: we helped save the Internet. We saved the Internet by not accepting the status quo, by not allowing corporate interests to acquire a stranglehold on our online lives.
