Way forward on housing must include compromise and funding
There is a broad consensus in the community on the need for housing. Rents are extraordinarily high for many, consuming over 50% of their take-home pay. The need to provide more affordable housing here in Westchester has never been higher and was exacerbated by the pandemic and the post-pandemic run-up in rents. There also is the need for middle-income housing — for seniors on fixed incomes, emergency responders, our grown children who want to stay in this beautiful area, and for our workforce.
Our housing crisis needs a different approach
In her proposed state budget for 2023-2024, delivered to the New York State Legislature on Feb. 1, Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed a housing plan with the goal of producing 800,000 new housing units within 10 years. This goal folds in an existing five-year plan adopted last year to create 100,000 units of affordable housing. The governor intends to implement the new plan, the Housing Compact, by imposing targets on local governments to increase within three years their housing stock.
A hiring policy that makes good business sense
Last year, New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie appointed me to the newly-created Committee on People with Disabilities, as well as appointed me chair of the Subcommittee on Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities. As this was not an area with which I previously had much experience, I formed an advisory committee of advocates and experts to help with my work.

Affiliate Disclosure: We may earn a small commission on some of the products you purchase below. This does not affect our rankings in any way and comes at no additional cost to you. You may be wondering if a radar detector is worth it. With the average cost of a speeding ticket in the U.S. at around $150 – with some ranging past $600 (plus the increased insurance premiums) – a radar detector quickly pays for itself if you avoid only one ticket.
The 9 Best Radar Detectors on the Market Ranked (2021)
One of the biggest questions about radar detectors is if they are worth the money. Are they really going to save you from a speeding ticket, or are they just another fancy gadget to show off inside your car? As with most things in life, it depends. That’s why we created this guide to the best radar detectors on the market in 2021, so you don’t waste your hard-earned money on a high-tech, glorified paperweight.
Top 5 Best-Selling Radar Detectors on Amazon
When buying products online, it’s usually a good strategy to look for the best-selling items that fit your criteria. After all, they’re usually the best-selling for a reason. Amazon, being the juggernaut of eCommerce as it is (but not always the best place to buy car parts), tends to be the perfect website for this type of research. I wanted to know the most popular radar detectors on the market (and why they’re popular), so I headed over to Amazon’s best sellers page.

Lamborghini Privilegio: Another Special Edition Gallardo
Wow, another Gallardo. This one, the Privilegio, will set you back $208,000 (about 19% over the base MSRP of the base Gallardo,) and will be a limited run of only 150. It comes in 2 shades of black (including a matte-black,) a white leather interior, and has a load of other features. I must say, I’m not a fan of the matte-black parts of the car. Looks a little bit like the Lamborghini take on the Batmobile, but I do see where they are going with the idea.
The Aston Martin Miata AMX-07…huh?
I’m trying to make this get me upset but I can’t, it’s just too cute. Michael Lebedev created this Aston Martin body kit made for the Mazda Miata in Australia, and is selling it for about $5,600 USD through his company Custom Automotive Restyling. Inspired by the James Bond flick Die Another Day, the body is made from fiberglass and the headlights from a Smart car. I just can’t stop thinking about the Micro Machines when I look at this.

What's the Difference?
What’s the difference between a coupe and a sedan? To most people, the answer is easy: a sedan has four doors, and a coupe has two. After all, that’s how all the car manufacturers have defined them over the years. So is the answer that easy? No, not really. As with most things automotive, there’s unnecessary confusion that has only been brought up recently, as some car makers are trying to differentiate their cars by calling them four-door coupes, along with other seemingly contradicting names.

Scion tC Release Series 3.0
Scion announced that they’ll be debuting their most recent variation of the tC at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Called the tC Release Series 3.0, it features quite a few modifications; most noticeably a very different front body kit that gives the car a much more aggressive, lower stance. Another thing you should notice right away is that they removed the front badge from the grill. While popular with a lot of the the tuner crowd, it’s very strange to see a brand do that right from the factory.
