The band formed at school in 2015, with a single 'Glasgow' appearing in 2016, and since then, Jack and his band have enjoyed a remarkable and rapid ride to success with their 2021 debut album 'W.L.' hitting the number one slot in 2021.

Home is Where The Hearth Is
It’s been awhile. I was on a train travelling up to play a show with Francis Dunnery in Cumbria a few weeks ago. It’s a journey. He recorded my first solo album in a time when I thought I didn’t have it in me, and since then I have discovered there is more, always more. I stood in my studio in Peasmarsh in 2001 while he convinced me that there was life outside of the world I had grown up in, the one I was prepared to leave behind.
Marbel’s Elastic Bands and Squeezers
I watched The Defiant Ones with Louise on the sofa this week and was moved in so many ways, its one of the best documentaries I have seen. It engaged me and scared me too. It made me think about fame and fortune and what that means to me. Yes I had the large PRS statements and yes the gold discs but never really the fame that was best suited to the better suited arctic kind of monkeys.
5 Years - Chris Difford
Have you ever sat in the bath pulled out the plug and watched the water drain away leaving your body as an island in the middle, no neither have I. But thats what it feels like being out on tour, I can feel the past draining away revealing the clean tired but relaxed me like a jelly right in the middle of the tub. Halifax was up some stairs, and they liked us. Gateshead was clean and tidy, with a little left overs on the side. Another drive back to our base in Harrogate.
Not so hot Wax - Chris Difford
Today i heard that copies of Fancy Pants had arrived through 63 eager peoples doors, and to my horror i have found that the running order is not how it was intended. CD 1 is a shorter version of the album, and CD2 is is the complete album. CD 1 should have been Act 1 […] Today i heard that copies of Fancy Pants had arrived through 63 eager peoples doors, and to my horror i have found that the running order is not how it was intended.
The Empty Chair - Chris Difford | An unusual world
Since i have been in Phoenix Arizona i have been eating and not sleeping, eating and thinking about the tour. My back is free of spasm but still in intermittent pain. I have to have a op when i get home to free up the disc from the nerve endings. Stage moves may be limited to the odd twist which is about right for my age i guess. I thought it was just back ache, but its not, its very serious. Squeeze have toured for many years here in America and somehow we survive, the songs may be the ticket.
Graduation Day - Chris Difford
Today i went proudly to see my daughter Cissy graduate from Goldsmiths Collage in London, i used an app to find a local parking space and drank expreso on the steps as the sun shone down on her brilliance. The last time i was at Goldsmiths was when i came to see Hawkwind play in 1972, i sat on the floor for the all nighter and rolled up spiffs with my friend Tony.
Boise and Beyond
Boise, home of the Taj Mahal curry house, and home of the wonderful Egyptian Theatre. Also home of the lovely Curtis Stigers. A day off and a wonder around town in the warm sunshine and clean air that escapes from the local mountains close by. Everywhere seems neat and tidy, its a model village of America, at least the downtown where im staying seems to be. I loved my table for one curry, on another table a couple who were full of the joys of spring.
Hey Man is this Glastonbury?
When Glenn and i first met we played a number of small festivals firstly on our own and then with our first band called Cum! It was frightening yet exciting all at once to be on a stage playing in front of people, even if they were all stoned. I remember being very nervous and not really knowing what chords to play when, and what words to sing, today things are a little better. We played our songs proudly and with much abandon.
Elko (not in the tour itinerary)
Yes a night in Elko Nevada is on the cards, so we pull up at the Casino and the drives get some sleep before heading off for the spare part at first light. Me I’m on the bus, but first some food in the Casino. Inside some rustic looking people stand and sit at the slots, some look connected by their hands possibly there all night.
Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook
The Butterworth Hall is always a great venue for a concert – it’s small enough to feel intimate but big enough to have plenty of atmosphere. Tonight it’s nearly full for the visit of the two front men from Squeeze on the last night of their At Odds Couple Tour.
David Bowie - Chris Difford
In 1972 i was sitting in my bedroom in my tiny house on a council estate in London when the penny dropped. I put pen to paper and picked up my battered guitar and began to write my first song. I had no idea where i was going too but i knew subconsciously that this was me. My songs were deep and fanciful, i was drifting between romance and theatre, both of which i knew nothing about. On my record player the constant revolving of David Bowie and Space Oddity.
I Talk To The Wind
Another voice from my childhood gone, i saw King Crimson and ELP a few times in my jagged youth, and i played their albums relentlessly trying to understand what was going on. Greg Lakes voice enchanted me and bathed me in a warm teenage dream that one day i too would be King, but not […] Another voice from my childhood gone, i saw King Crimson and ELP a few times in my jagged youth, and i played their albums relentlessly trying to understand what was going on.
Chris To The Mill
The phrase “national treasure” is so ubiquitous these days that it has become devalued; however, Chris To The Mill makes a very bold case for Chris Difford’s rightful place in that pantheon. Chris To The Mill rounds up his three solo albums, out-takes and an interview/acoustic performance DVD.
Trumpets in Paradise
Below are just some of the reviews from fans about the tour and the book, i feel so proud and i print these not to blow any of my own trumpets, and i have a few, but to display that after all the hard work and worry its all worth it if you work it. Some Fantastic Place
My Life In and Out of Squeeze A captivating memoir of Chris Difford's upbringing in South London and his rise to fame in Squeeze, one of the biggest bands of the 1970s and 1980s Chris Difford is a rare breed. As a member of one of London's best-loved bands, the Squeeze co-founder has made a lasting contribution to English music with hits such as 'Cool For Cats', 'Up The Junction', 'Labelled With Love', 'Hourglass' and 'Tempted'.
Harvest Moon - Chris Difford
Today a large truck arrived outside of my house, the driver had a pallet of books but he could not get them anywhere near the front door. I have a sprained wrist, i showed him my wrist in bandage and he just shrugged saying, i should call a friend. I spent the afternoon loading them gingerly into my study by myself. Tonight i went to see my vicar Peter Owen Jones, we eat and spoke about things close to our hearts, our souls and our minds, and the book.
Be Creative - Chris Difford
With my book coming out next week i thought i would once again stress that if you would like a copy signed you can do this in one of two ways. By buying a copy from my website, or coming along to one of the book events which are on the book events page. I […] With my book coming out next week i thought i would once again stress that if you would like a copy signed you can do this in one of two ways.
Chris To The Mill
I’m so proud of this box set, which was inspired by my lovely brother Lew, and Val from Demon Records. When it arrived this week i could not believe how great it looked. It covers my solo albums up to date, and i have so many fond memories of making them over the years. It would never have happened unless dear Francis Dunnery had not marched me into my studio to sing and play. Its what i do. But was not at all confident that i could.
Blog - Chris Difford
“Just wait a few days before saying your prayers.” I was in Brussels recording Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti when ‘Around the World in a Day’ was released, it was constantly on my Walkman. I walked around the city treading sprightly to the exotic expression of each song, i was hearing pop songs but from another place. Its originality and its simplicity was the perfect daily counter balance to what was a complicated time for me.
The Absolute 80s Podcasts
The last UK radio interview David Bowie has done, to date, was with Ben Jones in 2003 (around the 'Reality' album promotion) With Bowie about to release 'The Next Day' (11th March), his first album in 10 years, here is another chance to hear this Archive Interview in which Bowie talks about the conflicting demands of touring and family, and the mindset of his adopted city, New York, in the post 9/11 years.
