Silent and deadly
We decided to start with a short cross-country and were about five miles from the airport when I noticed a warning light. I mentioned it to the instructor, who immediately recognized it and acted to prevent something that could affect us both. The warning light was labeled Carbon Monoxide (CO).
The Essence of Avoiding a “Sunk Cost” Life
Chris Greco · Follow 4 min read · -- Why certain decisions can be the difference between a copacetic life and one worth reliving. When we fall for the sunk cost fallacy, we get ourselves trapped because we are afraid to give up on an “investment” such as five years in a job or ten years in a relationship in order to make the personal or professional changes we know, deep down, we need to make.
The Essence of Disruption: A Catalyst for Organizational Growth and Innovation
Chris Greco · Follow 3 min read · -- Disruption is often misunderstood and feared, but it shouldn’t. There’s process to make new these innovative ideas gain traction and stick. Disruption can be seen as a threat, a disturbance, an unwelcome intruder in the comfortable realm of the familiar. This perception is deeply rooted in our psychological makeup, where change is often equated with danger. This view, however, is shortsighted and limits our potential for growth.
The Essence of a Routine
Chris Greco · Follow 4 min read · -- Not all hours of the day are created equal. We are fresh into New Year’s resolutions and statistics show that, soon, the majority of us will see our progress against our elusive NY’s goal start to slip. When I’ve really committed to achieve something, I found there is one action that if not done severely limits my chances of achieving what I set out to achieve: my morning routine.
The Essence of Recruiting
Chris Greco · Follow 5 min read · -- What it takes to attract great people I think it’s fair to say that college football coaches, especially the elite ones past and present — such as Saban, Holtz, Bowden — knew how to reach into an athlete’s heart and persuade them (and their loved ones) to become part of their program when they had many other options, as almost all elite athletes do. These coaches were “hands-on.” They showed up, got on the ground, and met the athletes in their homes.
The Essence of a Turnaround
Chris Greco · Follow 4 min read · -- When I stepped into the role of CEO at a struggling tech company, I thought I had a firm grasp on the challenge ahead. The investors, after 18 months of significant burn and slow sales, were looking for an exit. As I delved deeper, I realized that the true essence of a turnaround lies not just in financial metrics, but in the very fabric of the organization itself.
The Essence of an Operator
Chris Greco · Follow 4 min read · -- How individuals at great companies see their roles I had the pleasure of speaking to a thriving tech company in the heartland. Picture this: a garage startup that’s blossomed into a safety industry powerhouse, flush with over $100M in funding, and more momentum than a runaway freight train. It’s the kind of success story that makes Silicon Valley types and the PE’s that passed on the early rounds choke on their kombucha.
The Essence of a Growth Leader
Chris Greco · Follow 4 min read · -- It was Monday, 8:30 am, and we were about to start our weekly leadership meeting. Our CMO and CRO were in a heated, but healthy exchange. Both are accomplished leaders with very different roles to scale the company. Their argument wasn’t uncommon as it was over the forecast and how sales were trailing, even though the growth was in the double digits. Both knew each other’s roles and were highly dependent on one another.
What a Soaking-Wet Salesman Taught Me About Affirmative Leadership
Chris Greco · Follow 6 min read · -- At 7:35 a.m. Rick heard a knock at the door. He had gotten to work early because he liked having an hour to himself to get ahead of the ball before the employees started showing up. So who was this? Curious, Rick opened the door and found a panting, sweating 25-year-old salesman. The bottom half of his suit was totally wet, and Rick didn’t miss the way the young man tried to keep himself composed in spite of his appearance.
Don't throttle the throttle!
An autorotation is when the helicopter’s engine fails, much like a power-off maneuver in fixed-wing aircraft. However, and here is where he was emphatic, the pilot reaction is not the same as that of a fixed-wing. He then described the collective, which is the control that determines altitude in the helicopter, and the throttle which is part of the collective “handle.” He stated that the first thing the pilot will do is put the collective in the full down position.
Apple Intelligence and the Impact on Corporate Data Security
Apple recently announced its first products with fully integrated Generative AI tools — including the iPhone 16. This move is expected to bring significant advancements in user experience and device capabilities. However, it also raises concerns about the privacy and security of corporate data on both employee and business-owned devices.

06.02.21 -- Diverse Patient Populations In Clinical Research: 3 Steps For Success
Newsletter | June 2, 2021 By Ed Miseta, chief editor, Clinical Leader At some point, every pharma and biotech company hoping for a regulatory approval will have to start planning for commercialization. That planning can start at different phases of the drug development process, but historically it has often been delayed until clinical trials were well underway. At least one executive believes that planning should happen earlier in the development cycle.

Newsletter | March 15, 2021 By Mathini Ilancheran, Beroe Inc. The Asia-Pacific region has become the hot spot for conducting clinical trials. Why? By Chris Greco, manager of comparator and ancillary supplies, Catalent Pharma Solutions Ensuring an adequate, timely, and quality supply of comparator product for clinical trials is critical, but clinical trial sponsors face several challenges in this endeavor. Delivery delays or under-projection of needed quantities could have a negative impact on timelines, budgets, and patients relying on new treatment options for unmet needs.
