Long-term outcomes of mastectomy with and without delayed breast reconstruction: A population cohort study
Background: Breast reconstruction is routinely offered to improve quality of life, but less than a quarter of patients will have reconstruction at the time of their mastectomy. Delayed breast reconstruction (DBR) remains a good option for many women, but there is a lack of high-quality information about how the long term outcomes of DBR compare to those in women having mastectomy only to help women decide whether further surgery is right for them.

Introduction: High-quality information on the long-term clinical outcomes of different types of immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) including the need for further surgery is currently lacking. The Brighter study aimed to compare the need for revisional surgery and secondary reconstruction by type of IBR to help women make more informed decisions about surgery.
Patient-reported outcomes of prepectoral implant-based breast reconstruction: Early results from the pre-bra prospective multi-centre cohort study
Introduction: Prepectoral breast reconstruction (PPBR) has been widely adopted due to a perceived reduction in post-operative pain and improved patient satisfaction but high-quality evidence to support these benefits is lacking. The Pre-BRA prospective multicentre cohort study aimed to explore the safety and effectiveness of PPBR prior to definitive evaluation in an RCT. Here we report the 1st analysis of the 18-month patient-reported outcome (PRO) data.

Introduction: Mesh-assisted implant-based breast reconstruction (IBBR) has become established as the standard of care despite a lack of high-quality evidence to support its safety or effectiveness. Well-designed randomised trials (RCTs) are ideally needed.
Quality of life after breast reconstruction-the BRIOS study
Although implant removal was more common in patients receiving single-stage mesh-assisted direct-to-implant reconstruction (n=17, 29%) than in those undergoing two-stage expander-implant procedures (n=4, 7%), there were no significant differences in patient satisfaction between the groups, irrespective of whether those with complications were included in the analysis. 2 The association between complications and quality of life after mastectomy and breast reconstruction for breast cancer.

Introduction: The extrinsic clotting pathway promotes cancer progression and is upregulated in aggressive breast cancer subtypes (ER-ve, high proliferation). Cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) are a subpopulation of cancer cells that are resistant to treatment and play a role in recurrence.
