Bear hunt applications available; deadline is Friday, May 5
Applications for bear hunting licenses are being accepted now through Friday, May 5, wherever Minnesota hunting and fishing license are sold, online and by telephone at 888-665-4236. A total of 3,350 licenses are available in 13 permit areas. Bear licenses cost $44 for residents and $230 for nonresidents, and there is a $5 application fee. The season is open from Friday, Sept. 1, through Sunday, Oct. 15. Notification to lottery winners will be made by June 2.

Tom Brady Gets His Stolen Jersey Back
Tom Brady finally got his stolen Super Bowl jerseys back. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft presented the jerseys from Super Bowl 51 and Super Bowl 49 to Brady yesterday. The jerseys were allegedly stolen by Mauricio Ortega, a Mexican news director who had access to Super Bowl locker rooms for at least the past 10 years. Authorities found the jerseys at the reporter's home in Mexico. They found Von Miller's helmet from Super Bowl 50, too.

Hunter Bland and Conner Young of the University of Florida fishing team are lucky to be alive. Recently they were fishing in a FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) College Fishing tournament on Lake Seminole in Florida. The two anglers were on the way out to a fishing spot to start the tournament when the unthinkable happened. They were traveling about 60 mph when the accident occurred.

47 point buck scores a new world record
A man in Tennessee set the world record for largest whitetail deer ever killed. The 27-year-old man killed the trophy buck in November, but a 60-day drying-out period had to take place to allow for possible shrinkage of the antlers. A panel of four judges measured the 47-point rac k, giving the deer a score of 312 and 3/8. That is larger than the current world record of 307 and 5/8 from that a man in Iowa, killed in 2003. That deer had 38 points.
Boy DANGLES from Ski lift
An unconscious man dangling by his neck from a chair lift at a Colorado ski area was rescued by a high-wire artist who shimmied across a cable to cut him loose . The skier’s backpack became entangled in the chair as he was unloading, leaving him hanging in the air by a strap. The lift was immediately stopped and a part-time ski instructor at the resort, Mickey Wilson, who was in the chair lift behind the man, jumped into action.

Wisconsin deer hunting preliminary numbers released
MADISON - Close to 600,000 deer hunters embraced the excitement of another nine-day gun deer season in Wisconsin, and preliminary numbers show an increase in the buck harvest, especially in the far northern counties. Preliminary registration figures indicate a total of 97,892 hunters were successful in their pursuit of a buck, an increase of 5,282 (5.7 percent) compared to 2015.
Pie Burner Fat Bike Ride
This year's "Pie Burner- Fat Bike Trail Ride" is a memory, but you can mark your calendar for the 5th annual ride next year. That will be held in Hibbing, Mn on Saturday November 25th, 2017. This year will be remembered for a lot of snow and challenging conditions, but that didn't stop 37 riders from venturing out to explore the woods. Fat Bike enthusiasts came from Duluth, the Twin Cities, Fargo, and Canada joining several local riders in a day of fun. Find out more about the ride on Facebook .
