What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I still love (and share) a story I wrote several years back on olfactory art, which is such an underappreciated form.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
It was for an interview with the last pearl diver in Qatar and had everything: the who, the what, the why and most importantly, the WHY NOW.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The New Yorker and The Baffler.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
Probably that exhibition reviews need to be positive. Art criticism seems to be dying a slow death.
