Commentary: Albany County tobacco plan will do more harm than good
Albany County officials recently unveiled a multi-part legislative package laudably aimed at increasing enforcement on already-illegal disposal flavored vapes and cracking down on deceptive vaping devices that look like school supplies. However, another part of the package will devastate our businesses, put our collective retirements at risk, and cost jobs and tax revenue — all while doing nothing to achieve its stated objective of preventing youth smoking.
6 Qualities of Divine Confidence
Confidence comes from knowing we have enough personal power to cope with opposition and obstacles. What does God teach us about confidence? How does he empower us? Hebrews 10:35–36 Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. God wants us to be confident so we can boldly serve him. He has a purpose for everyone and he wants to shower us with rewards.
7 Ways to Hear God
God’s word is a wonderful gift but sitting down with a Bible isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. What are some other ways we might hear God? 1. Ask in earnest and expect him. Praying is asking. When we pray we are inviting him into our awareness. If we ask knowing that he will hear us and respond we are preparing ourselves to hear him. When we are expectant of his response we are showing our faith in him. We must expect him to hear him.
More Confessions of a BDSM Master
I look back on my time as a master very fondly. The world that was created during that time was wonderfully complex and interesting. I had to be creative to keep my submissives busy. All the men (cogs in the machine) went through the same system of submission. Sorting the wheat from the chaff was the first step. Time wasters are common so there was an entry challenge. Any man serious about BDSM and submission would jump at the chance to obey.
Breaking Free From My Narcissistic Family Cult
The first rule of being in a cult is that you’re not in a cult. Narcissistic family systems are so similar to cults that the psychological effects on a person are basically the same. Cultic systems do not simply appear, it’s a culture that develops over many years. A group of people become a cult when theirs a certain mixture of coercive control methods at play. Not everyone who is in a cult knows that they are in one.
What God taught me about food
God sent me a beautiful dream about food. He is in food. The dream sparked an interesting stream of thoughts I wanted to share. There is a restaurant near my flat. The building is beautiful inside and out however it seems to change hands every year or so. It seems no one can quite make this place work. I had a meal there once. The loveliness of the building distracted me from the underwhelming food. The interior had huge sky lights and dark wooden flooring. This is where my dream took place.

671,000 political ads were broadcast in Minnesota during 2018 election
If you started watching every political ad aired in the run-up to the November election in 2018 on New Year’s Day, it would take you until somewhere around Labor Day to see them all. And that’s just the ads for Minnesota’s eight congressional, two U.S. Senate and statewide races such as governor, attorney general and secretary of state. It doesn’t include legislative elections or local contests.
Political ad spending tops $71 million in Minnesota
This story is part of the Charnley Project at the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The Charnley Project course is funded by an endowment in the name of the late Mitchell Charnley, a professor and expert in news reporting and broadcast journalism who retired in 1966 and died in 1991. The endowment in his name was created to put students and professors together to produce and publish professional-quality work as part of a class at the journalism school.
Political ad spending tops $71 million in Minnesota
Dan Feehan, the DFL candidate running in the 1st Congressional District, is being targeted with Nancy Pelosi attacks by his opponent, Jim Hagedorn, who charges that Feehan was “hand-picked” by Pelosi to run in CD1. In case you’re wondering: Yes, you are seeing a whole lot of political ads — more than $71 million worth of ads across Minnesota airwaves, not even counting the state legislative races. Candidates and interest groups had bought space for more than 330,000 TV and radio ads as of Oct.
7 Ways to Boost Your Gym Performance
Christian King November 16, 2021 • 4 min read If you're honest, when someone asks how your workout went, you can't always say, "Awesome!" Sometimes it's just "Meh." Why is that? Why aren't all your workouts incredibly productive—maybe even exciting? What can you do to make sure your workouts are not only "awesome," but moving you closer to the physique you crave?
Beach Body or Bodybuilder? How Men Should Train and Eat for Each
We all have a vision in our heads of what we would ultimately like to look like. Maybe you want to have an athletic, streamlined look with nice abs and just enough muscle to turn heads at a Vegas pool party. Or…maybe you aspire to be massive, with slabs of thick, dense muscle. You want people to see you and say, "Holy sh*t!" Whichever way you go, it's your body, and it's entirely up to you what size and shape you want it to take.
6 Back Workouts For A Bigger, Stronger Back
Christian King July 07, 2021 • 11 min read If you are—or aspire to be—a physique competitor or bodybuilder, I don't need to impress upon you how critical it is to have a well-developed back. As for the rest of you, I get that it may take some convincing. You don't see your back when you're looking in the mirror, and people don't see it when you're entering a room, so it's understandable if back training isn't at the top of your workout schedule.
8 Reasons You Should Compete This Year!
You've thought about it more than a few times, haven't you? Your IG feed is constantly packed with posts from men and women dieting for contests, then proudly displaying their stage pics. You've been training for a while now, and you know you look as good as a lot of these folks—if not better. Admit it. You've tossed the idea around in your head: What would it be like to climb onstage and compete? Maybe it would be a lot of fun. You might even win! How cool would that be?
14 Keys To Mega Mass
So you want to get huge, do you? Not just larger than you are now—we're talking objectively massive. You want to stand out from all those anonymous gym rats and get so big no one would ever need to murmur those dreaded words, "Do you even lift?" You want it to be obvious from a hundred yards that you've devoted more time, effort, and sacrifice into the pursuit of muscles than all but an elite few. Great! Let's make it happen.
5 Ways To Master The Mind-Muscle Connection And Get Huge!
"I lift weights, so why aren't I getting huge?" I've heard this lament a thousand times from guys who do everything right—hitting the weights hard, eating the right food, getting good rest—but don't get a payoff in muscle growth. What's up with that? Merely lifting weights, even if you're using the optimal hypertrophy ranges of 8-12 for the upper body and 10-20 for the lower body, won't necessarily get you the extreme muscle mass you see in advanced bodybuilders.
Go Full-Power Beast Mode For 2018!
It's 2018 and your routine—and physique—needs a bump! Here are 12 ways to guarantee that what you see in the mirror next year will be a whole different beast than what you see today! 1. Write Down Specific Goals for the Year Nobody progresses in their workouts without goal setting, but having a vague goal like "I want to look jacked" leads to zero results. The key to goal setting is to be specific. Do you want to gain 10 pounds of lean muscle mass? Add an inch to your arms?
8 Signature Exercises From Past And Present Bodybuilding Pros
There are two schools of thought when it comes to taking training advice from the pros. Some insist that these men are, essentially, genetic mutants who respond so spectacularly to weight training that they have nothing of value to offer the rest of us mere mortals. Others agree that these men might be genetic mutants, but they note that these guys competed against men who had comparable genetic gifts.
7 Insider Secrets To Clean Bulking
Christian King May 26, 2021 • 5 min read Ah, summer. It was fun while it lasted. You kept your physique lean and mean while the sun was blasting out the highest temps of the year. You got to sport your sleeveless T's and shorts, and get all oiled up with lotion. You were looking good and feeling better. But now the air's getting cooler. It's time to put away the beach chairs, sunblock, and swim trunks, and get ready for fall—and get back to the gym.
7 Insider Tips To Build Your Ultimate Forearms!
Christian King June 22, 2018 • 4 min read If you're like most avid weight trainers, you've never given much thought to your forearms because you've been too busy focusing on big guns, thick pecs, cobra lats, or thunder thighs. That's cool. I get it. Just don't forget about your forearms. Thin, spindly forearms look weak and wimpy, whereas powerful, rugged forearms are impressive—and they're almost always on display.
6 Insider Tips To Build Your Ultimate Biceps
Biceps are one muscle group that you usually don't need a pep talk to get excited about. From the time we were barely out of diapers, we knew exactly what to flex when commanded to "make a muscle." Whether your inspiration to train was to look like Arnold or to just be the buffest guy at the beach, you know that great biceps are a must.
8 Insider Tips To Build Your Ultimate Traps!
When you see someone with a big set of boulder shoulders, you can't help but think of raw, rugged power—and traps are a big part of that. You'd be hard pressed to find a pro bodybuilder, pro wrestler, strongman competitor, or NFL lineman who doesn't own thick, bulging traps that surround their neck like a couple of footballs. But, let's face it, training traps doesn't exactly provide instant gratification.
