Nature’s pill can be a wonderful drug, especially in the form of live music. Indianapolis-based power-poppers Wishy delivered an energetic set at the First Unitarian Church on Oct. 15, with support from Brooklyn rock trio Youbet. Fresh off the release of their Winspear-backed sophomore album Nature’s Pill this month, the band performed a set that spanned their relatively short career so far, and closed with a handful of tracks off the new album.
Wednesday’s Philly Music Fest lineup brought together three acts with distinct sounds and personalities, from Clover Stieve’s confessional songwriting to Noah Richardson’s conversational stage presence and Mo Lowda & the Humble’s free-flowing indie rock. Throughout the night, all of them made clear just how much Philadelphia’s music community means to them. Clover Stieve opened the night with songs from her debut album, Born to Live, released in September.
