Christina Tapper’s Biography

A lover of sports, entertainment, and storytelling, Christina M. Tapper is an associate editor for Sports Illustrated Kids, where she conceptualizes, writes, and edits stories for the brand's print and digital platforms. She has secured high profile athletes and individuals, such as NBA MVP Stephen Curry, First Lady Michelle Obama, and baseball sensation Mo'ne Davis, for print and online features. In 2014, Christina helped spearhead the brand's SportsKid of the Year franchise, which won a Cynopsis Media award for best promotional campaign. In addition to assisting SI Kids with content strategy, she mentors middle school students through the brand’s Kid Reporter Program.

Before her arrival at SI Kids, Christina was a reporter for People magazine, where she penned celebrity and human interest stories. Her work has been featured in Essence, Seventeen, InStyle, ESPN The Magazine, Jet, and Black Enterprise and on People.com, Essence.com, and BlackEnterprise.com.

She also serves on the Board of Directors of The Reading Team in Harlem and is a volunteer team leader for New York Cares.

Christina is a proud graduate of Rutgers University, where she is currently an adjunct professor in the journalism department teaching students how to be intrepid and innovative storytellers. She also earned a Master's degree in publishing from Pace University. An adventurer at heart, Christina has a penchant for traveling, volunteering, 5K races, tea, vinyl records, and tackling her never ending bucket list.
